Silent Hitchcock Film Discovered In New Zealand

This will interest any film, history or Alfred Hitchcock buff: A portion of the first film credited to the Master of Suspense has been discovered in a New Zealand archive, 88 years after it was made and long after it was considered lost forever.

Hitchcock didn’t actually direct it, but he is credited on “The White Shadow” as its writer, assistant director, editor and art director. To put it simply, his touch was all over the silent picture.

Star Wars' Darth Vader has topped a new internet poll of the Most Vile Movie Villains. The all-black bad guy beat Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and James Mason's turn as Phillip Vandamm in 1959's North By Northwest to land a number one on's new countdown.

Vietnam epic Apocalypse Now has topped a list of the "top 50 films to see before you die." The war drama, starring Robert Duvall, was selected ahead of Jack Nicholson classic Chinatown, which came in fourth place, and cult favorite Donnie Darko in ninth.
