Penelope Cruz: 'I Would Love To Do More Musicals'

April 16th, 2011 4:20pm EDT
Penelope Cruz
Penelope Cruz has appealed to Hollywood casting directors to find her a role in an upcoming movie musical.

The Spanish actress starred in 2009's "Nine" and caught the musical bug, and now she's inspired to hit the high notes again on screen by gal pal Gwyneth Paltrow's show-stopping performances on TV show "Glee."

Cruz admits she may want to follow in Paltrow's footsteps.

She tells Entertainment Weekly, "Gwyneth was amazing. She was so funny and she has such an amazing voice. And once you've done a musical you always want to do it again.

"I would love to do more musicals, in TV or film....

Marion Cotillard FOD
Oscar winner Marion Cotillard has become the latest star to sign up for a FunnyOrDie.com online skit by promoting a line of "forehead boobs".

The French feminist star of "Nine" complains about the fact men stare at her breasts when talking to her and so she starts wearing fake mini-boobs on her brow to force them to look her in the eye.

She keeps a straight face when she states, "French women have known for centuries that to earn a man's respect you must make him look you in the eyes." She then dons the hilarious accessory, Forehead Tittaes, calling them "France's best-kept secret."

Cameron Diaz has been named the Worst Latino Actress of the past year for her role in film flop "The Box".

Diaz has topped the third annual Lazzies Awards list, handed out by Latina magazine for poor performances and bad films and TV shows.

She has been dishonored with the 'There's Always Waitressing Award' for Worst Actress for "The Box", with Latina bosses poking fun at her "bad southern accent" and her "deer-caught-in-headlights facial expression she wore throughout the entire film".

82nd Oscar Nomination Reaction: The Snubs, Surprises & Who Shouldn't Have Been Nominated

February 2nd, 2010 3:34pm EST
82nd Oscar Surprises, Snubs & Who Shouldn
And there were ten.

It seems kind of strange to say that, right? Ten Best Picture nominees? We knew it was coming for nearly a year, but now it's actually there. In Black and white. Ten nominees. Strange.

After seeing the list, it's easy to see that the Academy might be on to something. Sure, it would have gotten the biggest blockbuster of all time with "Avatar" earning a Best Picture nomination if there were only five nominees, but it would have missed out on other massive hits like "The Blind Side", "Up", and "District 9".

Now, the telecast is going to get a lot more casual...

The only thing that looks better on a resume than an Academy Award nomination is the award itself! Sure, a Golden Globe Award is nice, and a Screen Actors Guild award is commendable, but it's not the same as having your very own Oscar.

Nicole Kidman, Nine, Nine Premiere, Nicole Kidman powder face
Nicole Kidman stepped out with her fellow castmates for the premiere of their new film "Nine" in New York City on Tuesday night; but the big question is, what the heck is all over her face?

Either Nicole was running late for the event and rushing to get ready, or whoever does her makeup just needs to be fired! Who knows, maybe she "freshened up" in the back of her limo on her way to the premiere but didn't have a mirror. Or maybe she did have a mirror and that white stuff is another kind of powder for her nose.

"Nine" is based on the Federico Fellini's Tony award winning musical "8...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Avatar,' 'Nine' & More

AVATAR
Last week I had a chance to catch "Invictus," director Clint Eastwood's latest effort. A lot of early buzz suggests the film should be a Best Picture contender at the Academy Awards, but I personally wasn't too impressed.

While "Invictus" isn't a terrible movie, it certainly isn't Eastwood's best. In many ways it just feels forced because the film tries too hard to send an inspirational message.

Eastwood explores a number of subplots that he never fully fleshes out, and he fails to establish the proper dramatic tension that makes a sports picture so powerful. As an audience member ...

The Cineplexes Are Alive With The Sound Of Music: The Return Of The Movie Musical

On April 22's episode of American Idol, renowned composer and lyricist Andrew Lloyd Weber stood patiently trying to teach a blank-eyed Jason Castro the song, "Memory" from one of history's most popular musicals, "Cats." Smiled the clueless Castro, "I didn't even know a cat was singing it."

Quell'horror! Is this the extent of musical theater knowledge possessed by today's generation? In fairness, Castro is from Texas, not exactly around the corner from Broadway. Perhaps had there been a big-screen version of "Cats," more people under the age of 30 would be hip to the magic and majesty...
