Teen comedy Superbad is leading the nominations for the 2008 MTV Movie Awards after picking up five nods, including Best Movie.

The high-school comedy, directed by Greg Mottola, also scooped nominations for the film's stars Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, who will compete in the Breakthrough Performance category along with their co-star Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Hill is also up for Best Comedic Performance.

'Jumper' Leapfrogs Global Box Office Competition

Science-fiction movie Jumper has landed at the top of the international box office chart with takings of $28.2 million. Jumper, which also currently tops the U.S. box office - and stars Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson, beat out competition from National Treasure: Book Of Secrets to debut as the most popular film outside America over the weekend.

Sequel National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is at two with $12.4 million, while Katherine Heigl's 27 Dresses is at three with $7 million.

Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman's buddy movie The Bucket List has ended Nicolas Cage's treasure hunt at the top of the box office.

The movie veterans' new film, about two cancer patients living it up before they die, soared to the top of the chart with a $19.5 million weekend take.

The "Bucket List" opened on limited release on Christmas Day. It expanded to nearly 3,000 cinemas at the end of last week.

Will Smith proved the only man on earth who could top the first international box office chart of 2008 - his I Am Legend beat out competition from The Golden Compass to remain the world's number one film.

I Am Legend, in which Smith plays the last man alive, proved the most popular movie in cinemas outside the U.S. after taking a further $34 million. It's total haul now stands at $170.2 million.

The Golden Compass sits at two with $29 million, while sequel National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is at three with $19.1 million.

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets continues to prove box office gold - the sequel is America's number one film for a third successive week. The Nicolas Cage movie took $20.2 million over the weekend, taking its total domestic haul to $171 million.

Climbing up a place to two is I Am Legend, which took $16.4 million, while Juno is at three with $16.2 million.

Rounding out the top five are Alvin And The Chipmunks and One Missed Call, which took $16 million and $13.5 million, respectively.

National Treasure: Book Of Secrets will start 2008 at the top of the box office with takings of $124 million.

The Nicolas Cage movie took $35.6 million over the weekend to keep it ahead of surprise hit Alvin and the Chipmunks, which rose to second place with opening weekend takings of $30 million.

I Am Legend slipped to third with weekend receipts of $27.5 million; followed by Charlie Wilson's War, with $11.7 million; and Juno with $10.3 million.
