National Treasure Movie Review

National Treasure is one silly movie. From the plot to the casting to its complete -The Da Vinci Code meets Indiana Jones rip-off nature, the flick places Nic Cage in one ludicrous scenario after another and does it in such a light-hearted tone that you can't help but get sucked in by this slick and schlocky Hollywood product. Now, the movie really isn't all that good -- its humor falls flat, the chemistry of the lead actors is dreadful, and it's not all that suspenseful, but this is a plot about an invisible treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence, people! Just that fact alone makes it worth at least one curious viewing. Director Jon Turteltaub has a long history with Disney films and he makes his explosive blockbuster jump with this Jerry Bruckheimer production, which was big in theaters thanks to its family-friendly nature. Kids might be amused by the flick, though it's hard to say if parents will get the same kind of kick out of it or not. Take notice of the obnoxious sidekick Justin Bartha's freaky blue eyes, which end up being the biggest mystery in the whole tedious picture. Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
