When Jack L Warner decided to personally produce this film for his studio Warner Bors. Warner wanted Cary Grant, and James Cagney to star in this film. When they declined he felt he had to go with a box office star and offered the role of Eliza to Audrey Hepburn. A grand choice. Much has been made of the fact Julie Andrews should have played the part. I think Hepburn is great. Jack L. Warner hired George Cukor and gave this film personal loving care with Warner personally producing the film. The gorgeous sets and the great art direction bespeak of a very fine film and of course the music: Every song is a classic. This film set in London was shot at Warner Bros in Burbank California. An Oscar Winner for Best Picture, Actor, and Best Director. Again, Miss Hepburn was so unfairly maligned right after the film's release. Seen today, anew, apart from the Julie Andrews "controversy" Miss Hepburn is as always radiant and a superb actress. | ||
