Like ‘em, love 'em or hate ‘em, everyone has a mother. The person who carried us for nine months, mended our boo-boos and smothered us with so much love that sometimes it felt like a woolen blanket on an extra hot day. (Wait, maybe that was just mine - kidding mom!) As I sit here preparing this column, the Oscars have not aired yet, but I must admit there’s not a high likelihood that I will be watching them when they come on. Most years I’ll watch a few minutes here or there, if I’m interested to see who wins an award in real time.

The ceremony is drawn out and boring in my opinion, and requires sitting through too many commercials to warrant watching from start to finish.
