The Most Rad Flicks From The 80s

April 5th, 2014 8:00am EDT
Top Gun

This denim-clad, hairspray overflowing decade birthed the movie blockbuster megafranchise and the teenage angst anthem, selling out theater seats as galactic space emperors and high school heartthrobs sent cinematic shockwaves up our spines.

The movies may not have been as Oscar-worthy as those from ten years earlier. But just like the high top sneakers and parachute pants the defined the decade, these movies were loud, flamboyant, and instantly...

Oscar-winning Moonstruck screenwriter John Patrick Shanley has spoken out about the surprise of finding himself at the center of a $5 million sex act lawsuit filed by an ex-lover.

Actress Amanda Jencsik, 26, claims the 61 year old forced her to engage in violent sexual acts, restricting her breathing and allegedly asking Jencsik if she felt as though she was being raped during intercourse.

In her suit, obtained by the New York Post, the actress also claims Shanley sodomised her on multiple occasions.

Shanley, who told the Post he was unaware of the lawsuit, released a statement on Friday...

November 12th, 2008 9:52am EST
Revolutionary Road
This year's Oscar race isn't very deep with talent, and at this point there are probably only eight films with a legitimate shot at getting a nod for Best Picture. But those that have a chance at a nomination also have a great chance of winning.

One such film, "The Dark Knight", has already hit screens, but the rest of this group will premiere in the coming weeks as studios scramble to get their prestige pictures on the big screen before the year-end deadline.

Every year, film fans are tormented by the true snobs who catch all these possible nominees before the big awards show att...

September 5th, 2008 10:40am EDT
The Wicker Man
In 1996 Nicolas Cage stood on stage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and accepted his first, and currently only, Oscar for his tour de force performance in Mike Figgis' Leaving Las Vegas. This past year, while starring in Neil LaBute's ill-fated remake of the British horror classic The Wicker Man, Cage, donning a grizzly bear costume, punched a woman in the face.

There are two sides to Nicolas Cage-the go-to superstar with the droopy eyes and smug demeanor and Cage the talented, easily forgotten actor. Unfortunately the latter, Academy Award winning Cage persona is a distant memory a...
