Tom Cruise made wife Katie Holmes feel sick on the set of his new Mission: Impossible movie - by diving off the world's tallest building in Dubai.

The action man invited the actress and the couple's daughter Suri to the set when he was performing a pivotal stunt in the sequel, and they sat and watched the scene unfold on a monitor in a room adjacent to the top-floor suite Cruise jumped out of.

But Holmes could only watch one take - and had to excuse herself.

She explains, "They yell, 'Rolling' and 'Action!' and he drops a lot of feet... I said, 'That was great, we're gonna go and wait in...

The Aussie star reveals he tried out for the action man role nine months before filming started - and was initially passed over for Brit Dougray Scott. And he thinks his hair put the casting director off.

He explains, "I was doing a musical in London at the time, playing Curly in 'Oklahoma' - so I had a perm in my hair. So I put the hat on to do the audition and about halfway through, the casting director was like, 'That was great, could you do one wi...

The Five Best & Worst Movies Starring Tom Cruise

March 4th, 2008 2:00pm EST
Cruise in Mission Impossible 2
The inherent problem with writing a piece on Tom Cruise's best and worst films stems from the realization that there are very few bad movies in his repertoire. In fact, he is one of the few actors in which his name defines the movie as opposed to the movie defining him.

For example, when people see a movie starring Tom Cruise they often say, "We are going to see the new Tom Cruise movie." How many times has the statement been overheard, "I am going to see the new Daniel Day-Lewis movie?" And that guy just won an Oscar.

When developing a ranking of the best and worst movies of His...

'Charlie Wilson's War'- Momentous But Momentless

December 21st, 2007 10:11am EST
Charlie Wilson
Charlie Wilson was a man who took risks with seemingly no regard to the danger he was placing himself in. He would rather make a joke than admit defeat. Ultimately, when he's resolved to take action, he lowers his head and rams into adversity - crashing down hallways and flying in jet airplanes, unflappable and resolute.

Charlie Wilson's War is no different. Helmed by one of the greatest directors of all time, Academy and Tony award winner Mike Nichols ("The Graduate," "Catch 22," "The Birdcage," "Primary Colors" and Broadways' "Spamalot," "Odd Couple," and "Barefoot in the Park"), the...

Dougray Scott was supposed to play Wolverine in X-Men, but Jackman once again stepped in when Scott was tied up with Mission: Impossible 2.

He tells Premiere magazine, "I never cared about that. I know enough about the business to know that by the time a movie comes to ...

Thandie Newton Values Love More Than Her Career

June 2nd, 2006 8:26am EDT
Thandie Newton
Thandie Newton turned down Charlie's Angels so she could play a small part in her husband Ol Parker's independent film It Was An Accident. The screen beauty knew accepting a part in the 2000 blockbuster would mean instant stardom, but she preferred to support her spouse instead.

She says, "I'd been away for a long time doing Mission: Impossible II and he had written a film that meant a lot to him, and I'd always said I'd play a small role in it. The dates had been changing, then suddenly Charlie's Angels was happening and Ol's film was happening too. He didn't say, 'Don't do that,' he...

Former Agent Says Tom Cruise Is To Blame For Sluggish 'MI3' Box Office Performance

May 16th, 2006 9:23am EDT
Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise is responsible for the poor box office performance of Mission: Impossible III, according to his former agent Ron Meyer. The film took a disappointing $48 million in its opening weekend at the U.S. box office, falling well short of industry forecasts. In 2000, Mission: Impossible II scooped a massive $57 million, despite lower ticket prices.

And Meyer claims the hype surrounding Cruise's relationship with Katie Holmes and his infamous appearance on Oprah Winfrey's talk show is to blame. Meyer says, "When the public learns too much about a star, it's dangerous. You're hiring ...

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes used decoy cars to leave the hospital after her daughter was born. The Mission Impossible 2 star used a plan worthy of agent Ethan Hawke himself, to get his fiancée and the new-born baby away from the Santa Monica hospital without being followed.

Tom and Katie left the St John's Hospital just 12 hours after the Dawson's Creek actress gave birth to 7lb 7oz baby Suri on Tuesday. The couple quickly leapt into a black Ford Excursion SUV with their wrapped-up baby and fled the medical center.

Simultaneously two identical Excursions rushed away from the scene...

South Park
Tom Cruise stopped Comedy Central from airing an episode of 'South Park' that mocks him - by threatening to refuse to promote 'Mission Impossible 3'. The now infamous episode of the cartoon 'Trapped in the Closet' pokes fun at the actor's Scientology beliefs and shows the actor trapped inside a closet.

The show, which was first aired last November, was set to be repeated on Wednesday night on Paramount cable channel Comedy Central. Paramount, owned by US media giant Viacom, is the studio behind the latest 'Mission Impossible' sequel.

However, the show was removed from the schedule...
