Skyfall
A new study has revealed that violence in the movies is on the rise, more specifically that films rated PG-13 have triple the amount of violence as R-rated movies from the mid-1980s.

Films like "The Terminator" and "Die Hard" were originally slapped with an R-rating when they came out, but their recent sequels have gotten by with only PG-13 ratings despite containing more guns and more violent scenes.

"The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) website clearly says that R-rated films contain more violence. But PG-13 films now contain significantly more violence than R-rated films," ...

MTV Movie Award Surprises: Can 'The Help' Beat 'Hunger Games?'

MTV Movie Award Surprises
The MTV Movie Awards have their finger on the pulse of 2011/2012 cinema with tons of nominations for The Hunger Games, Bridesmaids and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2. If they’re really current, Hunger Games will sweep but there are a few interesting surprises here too.

The Help is a nominee for best picture. Maybe it’ll be the dark horse winner and make up for losing the Oscar? Only if Hunger Games and Bridesmaids split the vote. It’s interesting that MTV acknowledges the popular historical drama, perhaps doing its part for civil rights education.

For best male performance, he...

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
Life is almost always more interesting in the movies than it is in reality. That’s because Hollywood uses artistic license to entertain us, by embellishing the truth and engaging us with concepts just plausible enough to be real. No place is this truer than in the spy film genre, which is filled with globe-trotting action heroes like James Bond, Jason Bourne, and Ethan Hunt. These characters incite epic car chases, gunfights, and explosions wherever they go, relying on elaborate gadgets in order to accomplish their respective missions. Their films are hardly realistic, but not entirely ...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
I’m disappointed to report that I didn’t love Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes sequel “A Game of Shadows.” The first half hour is pretty boring, and although the action picks up pretty heavily toward the middle, Ritchie seems to care more about style than substance in the film. He continues to use Sherlock’s own bullet-time type slow-mo combined with crazy forced perspectives of bullets and shells being shot from guns, which admittedly is pretty darn exciting at times.

What the movie lacks though is the same great banter between Watson and Holmes that was present in the first film. Holmes...
