Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow Named Top Sea-Faring Swashbuckler

Johnny Depp's pirate skipper Capt. Jack Sparrow has topped a new online poll of movie mariners.

The Pirates of The Caribbean rogue, which Depp based on rock star Keith Richards, beat Russell Crowe's Jack Aubrey in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and Wind's Will Parker, played by Matthew Modine.

Also making the top 10 on the CNN sea-faring list are Kevin Costner's Mariner from Waterworld and Mutiny on the Bounty's Fletcher Christian, played by Marlon Brando in 1962.


Russell Crowe Thinks He Is Getting Too Old For Action Movies

Russell Crowe thinks he is too old to be an action hero. The 42-year-old star has confessed he is too worn out to perform dangerous stunts in his movies and is on the look out for more sedate roles.

Crowe said: "Now that I'm getting a little bit older the bones are creaking and the Achilles tendons don't work the way they should. I don't approach everything with the same intensity that I used to."
