The president of Universal Pictures has urged British director/writer Richard Curtis to come up with a follow-up to hit 2003 romantic comedy Love Actually.

The British film, which focused on several different characters trying to find love, was a big hit at the box office, and now Universal chief Eddie Cunningham is hoping to convince the film's mastermind to pen a sequel.

Classic movie It's A Wonderful Life has topped a poll to find the best Christmas film of all time.

The 1946 drama, starring James Stewart and Donna Reed, picked up 18 per cent of the 3,000 votes cast in the survey by Britain's Radio Times.

The Muppet Christmas Carol came second with 10 per cent, while Love Actually, starring Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, placed in third.

Richard "Love Actually" Curtis tells a historical story in Pirate Radio. In the early '60s, rock n' roll music was banned in the U.K., so DJs just sailed boats off the coast to broadcast. The film has fun with the lives of DJs on the boat. Actor Nick Frost joked about the tight spaces, particularly in proportion to his own size.

Actress Laura Linney is heading back to Broadway to take on the historical villain played on the big screen by Glenn Close and Annette Bening.

The Love Actually star will play scheming La Marquise de Merteuil, opposite Broadway newcomer Ben Daniels, in Roundabout Theatre Company's Les Liaisons Dangereuses.

Linney was last on the Broadway stage in 2005, when she won a Tony nomination for her role in Sight Unseen.
