Universal Pictures President Wants 'Love Actually' Sequel
The president of Universal Pictures has urged British director/writer Richard Curtis to come up with a follow-up to hit 2003 romantic comedy Love Actually.
The British film, which focused on several different characters trying to find love, was a big hit at the box office, and now Universal chief Eddie Cunningham is hoping to convince the film's mastermind to pen a sequel.
He tells Britain's Mail on Sunday, "I think there should be a Love Actually 2. I'd give it a green light. I think many American movies try to emulate that brilliant format where the stories interweave and no one's on sc...

Spotlight: Liam Neeson - The Unexpected Movie Star
This weekend, audiences will get the chance to see Liam Neeson fight a pack of hungry wolves in order to say alive in “The Grey” from director Joe Carnahan. Though he has become a worldwide action star with films like “Taken” and “Unknown,” 15 years ago the Irish-born former amateur boxer was better known for dramas like “Schindler’s List” and “Michael Collins.” That’s not to say he takes the craft of acting any less seriously now than he did back then. He is still as talented and charismatic as ever, only now he seems to be having a lot more fun.
So how did Neeson go from being a serious ...

'Valentine's Day' & Other Movies With Star-Studded Casts
Ah, Valentine's Day weekend, the perfect time for Hollywood to embrace the mainstream audience by giving them cheesy and wonderful romantic comedies to prepare for the big day of love. This year the aptly named "Valentine's Day" is perfectly timed to get big notice, but one of the first things that impresses viewers is seeing the celebrity cast involved. It seems like almost every major actor is involved with this project, including Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, Patrick Dempsey, and on and on with at least ten other ...

Day Twenty-Five: December 20, 2009 - Love Actually
"Love Actually" is a long one, as far as holiday movies go. Some would assume it is too long for a genre that is notoriously known for cheesy carols and over-the-top design. However, what is at the core here are some very sweet (and often intertwining) stories about young love. From the racy movie stand-ins who come together (no pun intended), bonding even in awkward situations, to the elementary aged boy who is convinced he has found his true love, to the...

Nick Frost Squeezed Into The 'Pirate Radio' Boat
Richard "Love Actually" Curtis tells a historical story in Pirate Radio. In the early '60s, rock n' roll music was banned in the U.K., so DJs just sailed boats off the coast to broadcast. The film has fun with the lives of DJs on the boat. Actor Nick Frost joked about the tight spaces, particularly in proportion to his own size.
"They got tighter when I got in them, put it that way," Frost said. "They're small. The sets were so intricate and perfect that that was a tiny bathroom and it was really small. It was tight."
Part of that is movie magic. Just to shove a camera into those cabi...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - '2012,' 'Pirate Radio' & More
At some point this week I hope to catch the wacky comedy "The Men Who Stare at Goats." While I have read some bad reviews of the film, I believe my tendency to disagree with the mainstream, could be a wild card for my own appraisal of the movie.
I'm having difficulty believing the collection of George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges could contribute to a horrific film considering I how much appreciate their abilities on screen.

The upcoming Universal Studios romantic comedy "Couples Retreat" (Oct. 9) is about a group of friends with various problems in their marriages who go on a therapeutic tropical island vacation together. Written by and starring Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, it also features Jason Bateman, Faizon Love, Malin Akerman, Kristen Bell, and Kristin Davis.
The movie is full of the usual relationship pitfalls and tensions, offset by the manic one-liners for which Vaughn has become known. It focuses on four couples, but throw in all of these recognizable faces, and the audience is taken out of the ...

Starpulse's Explosive Summer Movie Preview
Since the dawn of the American cinematic blockbuster in the late 1970s and early 1980s, moviegoers have eagerly waited for May - the unofficial beginning of summertime. This summer is no different. Films, and most popular media, are social mirrors, and this summer season supports that. The large box office contenders all deal with very similar themes: escapism and the support of the lone, outlaw hero figure (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Up, Transformers 2, Public Enemies, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Inglourious Basterds, et...

Actor Bill Nighy Refuses To Do Sex Scenes
British actor has never filmed a sex scene for a movie - because he is too embarrassed by his body to ever strip off on camera. The 59-year-old star has enjoyed a long and varied career, beginning in theater and going on to land high profile roles in movies including the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and 2003's Love Actually.

Movies With Heart: The 100 Best 'Romdramedies' Of The Past 20 Years
There's the quintessential romantic comedy, and then there's the romdramedy. Similar to a dramedy (in which there is an equal balance of humor and serious content), a romdramedy combines comedy and drama with that mushy thing we call romance.
This is not a list of the best films over the past 20 years. Rather it is a list that gives preferences to those films that best combine all three elements - romance, comedy and drama.
Films like Magnolia and The Matrix were barred from competition, while films like Down with Love were considered (however, that one didn't make the cut)....

Starpulse's 'Top 10 Christmas Movies Of All Time'
I'm sitting with my family at the Thanksgiving table. At the focus is the bird carcass, a bulging centerpiece surrounded by newly stuffed bodies. The cranberry jello, still quivering in the shape of the can, is the only untouched side dish. There is a settling quiet as the full-stomached groans subside and give way to satisfied smiles, until finally somebody strikes up a conversation. Like the feeding frenzy that preceded it, it starts out slow and steadily grows more frantic.
"Oh you can't put that on there!"
