Orlando Bloom's Legolas Bow Sells For $372,000 At Auction

Orlando Bloom's Legolas bow from The Lord Of The Rings smashed a pre-sale estimate when it went up for auction over the weekend, reaching $372,000.

The prop was one of the biggest sellers at the Profiles in History's Hollywood Auction in Los Angeles.

Another item which went down well with bidders was the dress Kate Winslet wore during the famous Titanic scene when her character Rose DeWitt Bukater attempts to jumps overboard - it raised $330,000.

While the first 2:27 clip introduced us to the Dwarf party and a few of the familiar locales from J.R.R. Tolkien's classic -- such as Hobbiton, Rivendell and Gollum's cave -- the second 2:32 trailer is filled with plenty of action.

Peter Jackson has completed the star-studded cast of "The Hobbit" after signing up Billy Connolly to play a dwarf warrior.

An open audition for Peter Jackson's new The Hobbit movie had to be shut down on Saturday after more than 3,000 hopefuls turned up.

The director is currently in New Zealand filming the two-part Lord of the Rings prequel, which stars Martin Freeman, and a casting call for a part in the film attracted thousands of applicants over the weekend.

Producers expected around 1,000 wannabes to turn out for the auditions in Lower Hutt, near the capital city of Wellington, but they were overrun when more than 3,000 arrived.

Lord Of The Rings star John Rhys-Davies is facing a massive tax bill in the U.S. over allegations he owes more than $1.5 million.

Internal Revenue Service (IRS) bosses filed a tax lien against the Welsh actor with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds last month.

The papers, obtained by The Detroit News, suggest the Indiana Jones star owes $1,021,539 in unpaid taxes.
