Dr. Seuss' classic, environmentally themed children's book "The Lorax" comes to the big screen in a tale of a young boy who encounters a cantankerous forest creature after venturing outside of his artificial city in search of a tree.

Ted (Zac Efron) lives in a town where nothing is quite as it appears; everything is plastic, including the plants. Hopelessly smitten by the beautiful Audrey (Taylor Swift), who dreams of one day seeing a real tree, Ted boldly leaves the city determined to find the flora and grant her wish.

Singer Taylor Swift spends her free time reading movie scripts, but refuses to take any role unless she is "obsessed" with the character.

The Love Story hit-maker made her big-screen debut with a small part in 2010 romantic comedy Valentine's Day and she also voiced a part in Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, but admits she has her sights set on tackling a drama.

However, Swift insists she will only launch an acting career when she finds the perfect script with "great, powerful writing."

Fans are still having cravings for "The Hunger Games" - the adventure film raked in a whopping $61.1 million at the box office over the weekend.

The movie, which stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, broke box office records last week by becoming the biggest non-sequel film to ever open at number one - and now The Hunger Games has held onto its coveted first place title.

A statue of famous Dr. Seuss character The Lorax has been stolen from the late author's estate in San Diego, California.

The bronze artwork of the character, featured in the book of the same name and a new movie starring Zac Efron, was standing on a tree stump at the children's writer's hilltop home, but it was reported missing on Monday.

Dr. Seuss - real name Theodor Geisel - died in 1991 aged 87. The statue was one of two made by his stepdaughter, and the writer's widow, Audrey, still lives at the property.

Out-of-this-world action movie "John Carter" is the planet's biggest movie for a second consecutive week.

The film, starring Taylor Kitsch as a Civil War hero transported to Mars, grossed over $40 million in 54 markets outside the U.S., where the film has been savaged by critics.

"John Carter" has now earned a total of $126 million internationally - outside of America - since its release earlier this month.

Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax" jumps up to number two on the international box office list and Reese Witherspoon's comedy "This Means War" is third on the countdown.

Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax" has climbed its way to the top of the box office after raking in $39.1 million at the weekend.

The animated family film, voiced by the likes of Taylor Swift and Zac Efron, stole the number one spot from adventure movie John Carter, which debuted at second place with earnings of $30.6 million.

Comedy Project X dropped to third with takings of $11.6 million, while Elizabeth Olsen's thriller Silent House entered the countdown in fourth place ($7 million) and action film Act of Valor ($7 million) rounded out the top five.

Monday morning, Danny DeVito was in Los Angeles promoting his upcoming movie The Lorax, in which he plays the voice of the Dr. Seuss character. The night before, he was celebrating the New York Giants’s victory at the SuperBowl.
