Robert De Niro took the stand in a New York courtroom on Friday to testify against a gallery director accused of illegally pocketing cash from the sale of paintings by the actor's father.

Leigh Morse is charged with grand larceny for allegedly selling two works by Robert De Niro, Sr. and keeping the $77,000 fee without informing the Hollywood star.

It's claimed she ordered staff at an art house in San Francisco, California to wire the money for the paintings - Guitar Case and Landscape With Pink Field - direct to her personal bank account while she was working for Salander-O'Reilly Galler...

Review: Drugs Can Turn Life Around in Burger's 'Limitless'

March 18th, 2011 10:10am EDT
Limitless
In weighty films like “Requiem for a Dream” and “Trainspotting,” Hollywood has shown audiences the dark consequences of addiction and the depths that people will sink to when they’re seeking a fix. Drug use causes life to spiral out of control for the characters in these stories, until they hit rock bottom.

However director Neil Burger’s tale “Limitless,” an adaptation of the Alan Glynn novel The Dark Fields, presents an alternate world, where a pill can completely turn your life around. The result is a substance far more addicting with equally dangerous consequences.

Things couldn’t g...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Limitless,' 'Paul,' & More

March 14th, 2011 10:00am EDT
Limitless
Last week I was able to interview director Cary Fukunaga and actress Mia Wasikowska about their most recent project “Jane Eyre.” I got to talk with them about their motives for remaking a classic story like Jane Eyre, about working with Judi Dench, and about life on the road promoting movies. If you have not already read it, check out my interview with them, and my review of the film.

I’ve already seen “Paul,” starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, which debuts this week, and I have plans to see two other films coming out: “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Limitless.” I will also be interviewing ...

Review: 'Limitless' - Our 'Two Jews On Film' Have A Good Ride With This Sci-Fi Thriller!

March 13th, 2011 2:00pm EDT
Limitless
'Limitless' directed by Neil Burger (Illusionist) and written by Leslie Dixon (Hairspray) is based on the novel 'Dark Fields' a riveting, high-concept thriller written by Alan Glynn.

Both the film and the book asks the question: What would you do if you could take a pill that makes you smarter - as in...beyond genius, smarter?

Well for Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) an unsuccessful writer with major writer's block, whose landlady is about to evict him, that question is a no-brainer. Eddie takes the pill of course. Not just once but over and over and over again. Not only does this top secr...

Must-See Movies In 2011 - What To Watch And Why

January 18th, 2011 3:23pm EST
no strings attached
2011 is going to be a big year for movies, and if you’re anything like me, you tend to forget what’s coming out and wind up missing everything. So I took the liberty of compiling a list of movies that, in my opinion, are must-sees for 2011. In chronological order of release dates, we’ll start with...

The Green Hornet (Now playing)
The only superhero movie on this list, and it’s only on this list because it looks funny (like “Ironman”) instead of trying to be a cross between “Batman Begins” and “Watchman’ (I’m looking at you, “Thor”...). If you don’t know anything about “The Green Hornet...
