Mandy Moore Rules Out Romantic Comedies

January 26th, 2011 4:34pm EST
Mandy Moore
Mandy Moore has no plans to star in any more romantic comedies - because she's convinced there is "nothing to learn" from making light-hearted movies.

The singer-turned-movie star wants to seek out more challenging scripts and establish herself as a serious actress after turns in films including A Walk To Remember and License to Wed.

She tells Digital Spy, "I've had fun doing romantic comedies but I just can't anymore. There's nothing fulfilling creatively, there's nowhere to grow, nothing to learn from it or for yourself. I'd rather just be home with my family or write music until tha...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Gamer,' 'Extract' & More

August 31st, 2009 11:11am EDT
Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" is my recommendation for the must-see movie of the summer. Anyone who has an appreciation for Tarantino's films will love this WWII epic.

Divided into chapters like his other directorial work, this story follows a much more linear path than earlier movies, but it still reflects his unique style and flair. Musically "Inglourious Basterds" feels like one part spaghetti western, one part 80s rock ballad, elevating the intensity of emotions and violence in a number of scenes.

As Lt. Aldo Raine, Brad Pitt is a crude, ruthless, brutally honest ...

John Krasinski: Believe it or not, that crazy thing you feel never happens, happened. Which is I got a call ...

Mandy Moore Sick Of Being The 'Wallflower,' Wants Edgier Roles

April 8th, 2009 9:14am EDT
Mandy Moore
Singer/actress Mandy Moore is desperate to break away from her girl-next-door image because she's struggling to land decent movie roles.

The clean-living star is known for family-friendly films like 2007's Because I Said So and 2006's American Dreamz.

She has taken a break from her acting career to focus on her music but admits she has not starred in a movie since 2007's License to Wed because she keeps being offered the same boring roles.

And Moore is calling on casting directors to give her a chance to prove she can take on edgier projects, insisting she'd "work (her) a-- o...

Spotlight on John Krasinski

September 3rd, 2008 9:07am EDT
John Krasinski
The one hour season premiere of The Office is just weeks away (Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 9:00 PM on NBC) and that means our weekly dose of cutie Jim Halpert aka John Krasinski will soon be back! Who doesn't love this charming and funny guy? John is like your best friend's older brother who you had the biggest crush on in middle school; adorable and silly in a geeky kind of way. You'd find yourself going over to your friend's house more and more and wondering if he was home…just like you find yourself tuning into The Office more and more just to see Jim Halpert's smiling face.

The Post-Britney Spears Effect: What Will Become Of Today's Teen Queens?

March 13th, 2008 3:00pm EDT
Britney Spears
In the last couple years so much has gone wrong for Britney Spears. It's almost hard to remember there was a time when she was doing things right. It makes us wonder: In 10 years, what will have become of 2008's batch of teen queens? Are the lessons of Britney Spears a game changer for modern starlets, or are they simply the results of fame and a lost adolescence gone awry? What happens to young girls when they become cash cows for their family and associates?

From the start, tween divas are catering to a tough crowd because, let's face it, kids grow up. So Britney - at 26 years old wi...

Mandy Moore 'Mortified' By Movie Diet Demands

August 10th, 2007 9:52am EDT
Mandy Moore
Actress Mandy Moore was humiliated when movie bosses told her she was too fat for her character. The 23-year-old was thrilled to be cast alongside Robin Williams in new comedy License To Wed, but her jubilation soon turned to despair when she was ordered to slim down first.

Despite her reservations, she complied with their demands but hopes Hollywood will start accepting a wider range of body types soon. She says, "I felt mortified. I am who I am, and if I accept it everybody else should too."

"When I started out in the industry I was 14 and a beanpole, but over the last few yea...

Pop star/actress Mandy Moore has crossed the idea of a dream Caribbean wedding off her life wish list after shooting a mock marriage in the heat and sand of Jamaica. The singer plays a blushing bride-to-be in new comedy License To Wed and realized a beach ceremony is not for her.

She says, "It was beautiful but, man alive, it was hot and it kind of killed that fantasy of wanting to get married on the beach with a private little ceremony - it's sticky and humid."
