Jared Harris To Play 'Holmes' Nemesis

Mad Men star Jared Harris has landed the coveted role of villainous Professor Moriarty in the Sherlock Holmes sequel.

The British actor will play Holmes' nemesis in the Guy Ritchie film, which will star Robert Downey, Jr., Jude Law, Stephen Fry and Noomi Rapace, according to LatinoReview.com.

Sherlock Holmes creator Arthur Conan Doyle's Moriarty is considered by many the most treacherous of literary bad guys.

The character was most recently played onscreen by Moulin Rouge! star Richard Roxburgh in A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

It's rare that commercials are actually right, but today they are when they claim that a film based on the "Most-Acclaimed Graphic Novel of All Time" will be released.

That film, and novel, is "Watchmen" of course. The movie comes from the 12-part comic series from Alan Moore ("From Hell", "V for Vendetta") that was quickly packaged into a graphic novel upon its completion. Sean Connery Comes Out Of Retirement

Sean Connery has reportedly come out of retirement to shoot a new film with Orlando Bloom. The 78-year-old has turned his back on acting in recent years and has not appeared on the big screen since 2003's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

But now Connery is said to have signed up to star in "Quest of Sheherzade," based on the legendary 1001 Arabian Nights tale, alongside fellow Brit Bloom. The news was revealed by the film's female lead, Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley, who will play an Iranian princess.
