Ryan Gosling Reveals His Secret Obsession - Knitting

January 23rd, 2013 12:03pm EST
Ryan Gosling
He may have been joking, but Ryan Gosling recently told a magazine that he likes to unwind by knitting.

The actor learned the hobby while starring on the 2007 drama "Lars and the Real Girl." He admits he likes making "oddly shaped scarves" to relax.

He told Australia's GQ magazine, "I did this scene in Lars and the Real Girl where I was in a room full of old ladies who were knitting, and it was an all-day scene, so they showed me how. It was one of the most relaxing days of my life.

"If I had to design my perfect day, that would be it. And you get something out of it at the end. You get...

How Ryan Gosling Resurrected The Movie Star

September 14th, 2011 11:00am EDT

Movie critics, driven to understandable cynicism by the onslaught of unnecessary remakes (there is no reason for another "Footloose") and re-imaginings of every superhero from the Green Lantern to a hammer-wielding Norse god, have declared the movie star extinct.  I think the stellar year actor Ryan Gosling, 30, is having is inspiring proof that the existence of the movie star in this entertainment climate is still possible.

For this lover of pop culture, a movie star is more than someone who makes a lot of films and walks a lot of red carpets.  It’s Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman,” “Th...

80th Academy Awards 'Best Picture' Spotlight

February 18th, 2008 2:00pm EST
Best Picture nominee Atonement
In just six short days we will see who will walk away with Oscar gold. For the most part, the Oscar nominees were not much of a surprise. With the writers' strike finally over, it looks like we'll get to see our favorite stars walk the red carpet.

Like every year, there are some snubs. James McAvoy (Atonement), Keira Knightley (Atonement), Ryan Gosling (Lars & The Real Girl) and Sweeney Todd (Best Picture) not getting nominations was both surprising and unjustified.

Even though "Sweeney Todd" did not get a nomination for Best Picture, the nominated films are definitely deserving ...

The writers' strike has officially infiltrated awards season. The Golden Globes have been reduced to a lackluster news conference. That means no best and worst dressed list. No boozy celebrities making a fool of themselves. All that remains is an hour-long meeting at the Beverly Hilton Hotel with angry WGA picketers surrounding the premises.

So, until the Hollywood powers-that-be finally buckle down and give the writers what they want and deserve, we here at Starpulse are going to call the winners and losers. We looked at reviews, other expert predictions, viewer attitudes and who we ...
