This uneven remake of the 1950 Max_Ophuls feature from the play by Arthur_Schnitzler takes place in Paris just before World War I instead of Vienna at the turn of the 20th century. A soldier (Claude_Giraud) sleeps with a prostitute (Marie_Dubois) before he seduces Rose (Anna_Karina), and a willing but married Sophie (Jane_Fonda).
