Kokkuri Summary
Director: Takahisa Zeze
Genres: Drama
Rating:

Co-scripting with Kishu_Izuchi, director Takahisa_Zeze based this film on a 1970s Japanese teen cult which led schools to prevent students from holding supernatural rituals. This teen interest in spiritualism still surfaces decades later on some radio programs. As dramatized by Takahisa_Zeze, three schoolgirls, Mio (Ayumi_Yamatsu), Hiroko (Hiroko_Shimada), and Masami (Moe_Ishikawa) listen to a teen DJ on the nightly "Bluebird" radio show which conjures up the spirit Kokkuri in seances. When Kokkuri foresees death for one of the three by the age of 17, it creates tensions among the impressionable trio, pitting the girls against each other and setting in motion a series of alarming events. Shown at the 1997 Venice Film Festival. Bhob Stewart, Rovi
