25 Worst Movies Of 2009

November 27th, 2009 9:46am EST
The Body
Wow, there were some bad movies, like really bad, in 2009 but since we are optimists we like to think the good outnumbered the bad. We already discussed the good movies, and now we will feature the bad and ugly of 2009. Sometimes bad movies are entertaining enough to keep our attention for a few hours but sometimes the movies are so bad we induce vomiting to make us feel better.

Couples Retreat (25) had the cast and the budget to be a funny flick and it came out in the fourth quarter of 2009 when the best movies already came out. This movie was bad, not funny, and it might have marked th...

Is Excessive CGI And No Plot Becoming A Trend In Movies?

September 10th, 2009 11:14am EDT
Transformers 2
A few weeks ago I got to see 15 minutes of James Cameron's "Avatar" on the IMAX in 3D, and it was some of the best CGI ever seen on the big screen. For years Cameron has promised a big comeback and at least visually this movie looks like it will truly deliver when it comes out in December. And yet ... what little they revealed of the plot felt contrived, and the dialogue was stiff. A soldier sneaking undercover in another society and then falling in love with this new culture and trying to make peace between the two nations. Viewers have seen that before, but what makes "Avatar" different h...

Fashion Star Of The Week: Rose Byrne

March 13th, 2009 9:33am EDT
Rose Byrne
Australian native Rose Byrne, one of the stars of the FX network television series "Damages," surely gave new meaning to the phrase, 'birds of a feather flock together' when she attended the New York premiere of the movie "Knowing" on March 9th in a bold, but darling little frock.

The Outfit: A Christian Cota strapless feathered dark pink dress.

Sassy Factor: This outfit may be a bit over the top, but that's what makes it the perfect

girly fairytale red carpet item to don.

Accessories: Byrne keeps her look clean by sporting simple nude colored leather pumps with a...

As 2008 comes to an end, it is time to close the book on the entertainment experiences that we have had this year. Yes, Transformers blew our minds. Girls, Sex and the City blew your minds. To anyone who watched The Haunting of Molly Hartley, I'm sure you want your money back as well. It is time to put all of that behind us, however, and look forward to a new year, and new movies that none of us should miss.

Is Nicolas Cage Washed Up or Just Making Bad Decisions?

September 5th, 2008 10:40am EDT
The Wicker Man
In 1996 Nicolas Cage stood on stage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and accepted his first, and currently only, Oscar for his tour de force performance in Mike Figgis' Leaving Las Vegas. This past year, while starring in Neil LaBute's ill-fated remake of the British horror classic The Wicker Man, Cage, donning a grizzly bear costume, punched a woman in the face.

There are two sides to Nicolas Cage-the go-to superstar with the droopy eyes and smug demeanor and Cage the talented, easily forgotten actor. Unfortunately the latter, Academy Award winning Cage persona is a distant memory a...
