FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Ashley Judd is calling for an end to the mining practice known as mountaintop removal.

''Bug'' is a different kind of woman-in-peril movie starring Ashley Judd, which has long been its own specific genre. Judd is indeed in peril here once again, following ''Kiss the Girls'' and ''Twisted'' and the like, but she gets to prove she can actually act with some depth, and not just look pretty under strain.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) Ashley Judd is now a graduate of the University of Kentucky. The 39-year-old actress received a bachelor's degree in French, but it wasn't clear whether she attended any of Sunday's graduation ceremonies, UK spokesman Jay Blanton told the Lexington Herald-Leader for a story on its Web site.
