Film Company Blames 'Killers' For Profits Slump

August 11th, 2010 10:00am EDT
Killers
The boss of film distributor Lionsgate has partially blamed the "underperformance" of Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl's action comedy Killers for driving down profits.

The movie was released in June and only managed to recoup just over the $75 million producers spent making the movie. And after announcing that Lionsgate - who distributed the film - lost a staggering $64.1 million during the first quarter, CEO Jon Feltheimer has singled out Killers for the fall in revenue.

In a statement, he says, "Our first quarter was affected by marketing costs for our three wide releases, timing o...

July 26th, 2010 11:55pm EDT
Ashton Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher is fighting to keep the controversial title of his new film, "The F--k Buddies," because he's convinced it will help sell the film.

The "Killers" star has teamed up with Kevin Kline and Natalie Portman for the Ivan Reitman comedy and he hopes movie executives will not be turned off by the risque title.

He tells MovieHole.net, "I just finished a film called The F**k Buddies, that may not ultimately be called 'F--k Buddies.' I don't know why... I think people would love to go see a movie called 'The F--k Buddies.'

"I think if I saw a poster and it said 'The F--k Buddies,' I'...

Ashton Kutcher Nervous About His Topless 'Killers' Scenes

June 17th, 2010 8:50am EDT
Ashton Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher impressed his Killers co-star Katherine Heigl with his down-to-earth attitude - because he was "really nervous" about stripping off for a scene.

The actor plays an undercover assassin who quits his job when he falls in love with a woman played by Heigl and spent weeks honing his physique before filming.

However, Kutcher was still worried about appearing topless on-set - a trait Heigl found endearing. She tells Britain's Live from Studio Five, "Ashton spent that entire day worried about how he looked on camera, like anybody would, because he knew he'd be shirtless for that...

Summer 2010 Is Disappointing For Film Lovers

June 11th, 2010 8:54am EDT
The Karate Kid
It looks like the summer of 2010 will be one moviegoers will soon want to forget. Many studios and filmmakers are already scratching their heads wondering why this summer (barely halfway over) is producing rather disappointing numbers at the box office.

Iron Man 2 and Shrek Forever After have made $291 million and $166 million respectively and are the only big-budget films that have come out during this crucial season to break even with their production budgets. Audiences’ clear love of Robert Downey Jr.’s cool superhero Tony Stark and the comedic storytelling-style have made this franchis...

Ashton Kutcher: 'I Can't Grow A Mustache. It's Pretty Sad'

June 3rd, 2010 10:30am EDT
Ashton Kutcher Tom Selleck
Making his new movie Killers made Ashton Kutcher feel a little bit insecure. In the film, Kutcher faces off against hunky legend Tom Selleck. Selleck plays his tough father-in-law, with that trademark moustache we’ve known since Magnum P.I. Kutcher tried to level the playing field a little, but admitted defeat.

“I have been trying to grow that mustache since I could grow facial hair,” Kutcher said. “I can’t grow a mustache. It’s pretty sad, if I attempt to.”

In the film, Kutcher’s character tries his hardest to win over his wife (Katherine Heigl)’s disapproving father. In real life, Kutch...

Katherine Heigl's Black Ruffled Dress & Killer Pink Belt - Hot Or Not?

June 2nd, 2010 11:25am EDT
Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl looked playful at the "Killers" premiere in Hollywood yesterday. The brown-haired beauty wore a black ruffled skirt with a pale pink sleeveless blouse and a hot pink belt. Don't know about you, but we think she kind of blends into the background a bit, no?

The new mom recently confessed she's carefully choosing her film projects because she doesn't want her daughter to be "ashamed" of mom's work. She explained, "I love stories and opportunities to play different characters, but I won't do anything that's shocking and horrible in terms of playing someone totally despicable."...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Killers,' 'Get Him To The Greek,' & More

June 1st, 2010 9:14am EDT
Get Him to the Greek
Lately I’ve been quite busy seeing movies. I saw three of the films that came out last week and I already caught one that opens this week. My review of the one premiering this week will be in next week’s column.

I subjected myself to “Sex and the City 2” last Monday which I appreciated it about as much as any man probably could: not very much. It was not a terrible film by any means though. Fans of the show should have a good time. My Grade: B-

Tuesday I saw “Prince of Persia” which I describe as a funnier version of “Clash of the Titans” since the dialogue is more entertaining. As ...
