According to sci-news, the Cystomastacoides wasps are known for their deadly reproductive habits — basically, they put still-developing eggs inside other insects until the eggs slowly render their hosts either sterile or dead. Pretty gross, actually. But compared to the level of gore in Quentin Tarantino's movies...

Does that method of death sound kind of like the...

The Oscar Season Begins In August With Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds'

August 28th, 2009 11:02am EDT
Inglourious Basterds
The year in movies is always split into two different seasons. First, there's the endless malaise of the Winter, Spring and Summer where we suffer with movies intent on doing nothing more than making money. The second season is much more fruitful, it's when movies care about making money and winning awards.

This moment the season changes is often hard to pinpoint. Normally it occurs in late October when every single movie seems to have a minor-key melody scoring its trailer and actors from Britain make their first appearances.

Sometimes, however, awards season comes in with a ban...

But Tarantino insists he draws the line at putting kids in "harrowing" situations, and prefers to use animation to portray child characters. He says, "I've never believed in limits, because an artist can do a...

I finally got around to seeing "Terminator Salvation," and I must admit I wasn't terribly impressed. Overall the film was better than "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," but that doesn't say a whole lot because "T3" was pretty bad. This week there are five films premiering: "Year One," "The Proposal," "Whatever Works," "Food Inc," and "Dead Snow." There are three I think are worth seeing, and two I think you should wait to rent.
