If you like your comic book movies bloody and crude, you don’t have to wait until Deadpool 2 to get your fix. There’ve been a bunch of R-rated comic book movies before Deadpool made it cool. They didn’t enjoy the success Deadpool has but maybe now they can get the love they deserve.

6/25/2013 8:51am EDT
Colonel Stars and Stripes
Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar, producer for Kick-Ass 2, has responded to Actor Jim Carrey's very public denouncement of the film. As some may recall, Carrey's character, 'Colonel Stars and Stripes' is one of the most anticipated highlights of the movie.

However, yesterday, Carrey Tweeted that he would be withdrawing his support from the movie, on the basis that it contained so much violence, that Carrey just couldn't condone it. Carrey's sudden change of heart and radical political stance on anti-gun and anti-violence has been brought about by the tragic Sandy Hook shooting that took place ...

Jim Carrey Condemns 'Kick-Ass 2' In Wake Of Sandy Hook Tragedy

6/24/2013 10:03am EDT
Jim Carrey
Actor Jim Carrey, outspoken proponent of strong federal anti-gun and anti-violence regulations, has publicly decried the upcoming blockbuster movie Kick-Ass 2.

Never shy about his feelings of gun-violence, as evident in his parody video 'Cold Dead Hand,' Carrey has publicly shared on Twitter his feelings about the upcoming sequel, which he plays a major role in. Carrey's anti-violence sentiments have been strong in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, which took place in Connecticut, November 2012.

I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that l...

Adams plays his daughter (Mickey) and in their travels, she starts to take an active role to make up for his failing vision. Reviews have been mixed and with week box office numbers coming in, it's apparently played to some empty seats (couldn't help that one).

5 Best Movies On The Humorous Side Of Child Endangerment

12/9/2011 10:00am EST
The Sitter Poster
Why do we love R-rated comedy? Answer: The swearing is better. This sex is more comical. The shenanigans are more extreme. What makes any R-rated comedy better? Answer: Children.

The addition of children to any hilarious movie only makes that movie more hilarious. Having kids along for the ride takes all the things we love about these films and intensifies them. Having a kid in the car during a chase scene makes the danger more real and more frightening (hence the title of this column). Swearing, the lifeblood of any R-rated comedy, seems all the more taboo when it’s done in front of kids....

Teenage movie star Chloe Moretz is hoping her new vampire movie "Let Me In" takes off in Hollywood because she'd like her character's costume to become a must-have Halloween outfit.

Chloe Moretz
"Let Me In" star Chloe Moretz has apologized to Paramount Studios bosses after her recent 13th birthday screening party there turned into a sticky mess as her ill-mannered friends ran riot.

The young actress was thrilled when studio bosses agreed to dust off the original reel of "Breakfast At Tiffany's" for her, so she could watch her heroine Audrey Hepburn just as she had watched herself 50 years ago.

And they even let her invite 30 friends to the studios for a private screening.

She tells WENN, "They gave me a private screening room and I saw the original reel of 'Breakfast at Tiffany'...

'Two Jews On Film' Review 'Let Me In' (Video)

9/28/2010 10:47am EDT
"Let Me In" is a remake of the highly acclaimed Swedish film "Let The Right One In." This film is written and directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and stars two wonderful child actors, Chloe Grace Moretz (500 Days of Summer, Kick Ass) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) Let Me In is a poignant coming of age story as well as a bone-chilling horror film. Fans of the original film will not be disappointed. "Let Me In" is definitely a bagel-worthy film. It opens Friday, October 1st 2010.

Chloe Moretz Will Be 'Emily The Strange'

9/24/2010 10:11am EDT
Chloe Moretz
Chloe Grace Moretz has been on a fast track to stardom since her break out role as Hit Girl in ‘Kick-Ass’. Yesterday it was announced she will star as ‘Emily the Strange’ in a live action adaptation of the Dark Horse Comic that was created by Rob Regar, with Universal distributing. The film is expected to center on the origin of the gothic teen and her four strange cats.

Moretz herself took to her twitter account to confirm the news and I have to say, they couldn’t have picked a more fitting and wonderful actress to play the brooding and macabre Emily. I don’t know if Moretz is handpi...

Chloe Moretz Doesn’t Just Play Dress Up In ‘Kick-Ass’

8/10/2010 2:27pm EDT
kick ass
“Kick-Ass” burst into theaters in early 2010 to rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The movie, which is based on Mark Millar’s comic book, focuses on a group of superheroes. But unlike Superman, Batman and Spiderman, these crime fighters are all kids. The movie is heavy on the fighting and superhero escapades but also on the language the young actors use throughout the film.

Chloe Moretz, who plays Hit Girl, got plenty of attention with the especially colorful language her character uses in several key scenes. The 13-year-old Moretz, who had a surprisingly mature performance in 2009’...

Owen can't help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupy the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.

Paul McCartney Annoyed By 'Nowhere Boy'

5/24/2010 4:30pm EDT
Paul McCartney
Paul McCartney has yet to watch John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy - because he's "peeved" the actor playing his role is too short.

The film stars Kick-Ass' Aaron Johnson as Lennon, while Thomas Sangster portrays McCartney in the story of the late Beatle's early years.

But McCartney is not happy about the height difference between the onscreen pair - because he was just as tall as his Beatles band mate in real life and insists movie bosses should have put Sangster in "platforms" to make up the extra inches.

He tells Britain's Seven magazine, "I haven't actually seen it, but I hear I'm OK ...

Nicolas Cage Won't Eat Pork Because Pigs Don't Have 'Dignified' Sex

5/19/2010 9:03am EDT
Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage is a fussy eater.

He explains, "I actually choose the way I eat according to the way animals have sex. I think fish are very dignified with sex. So are birds. But pigs, not so much. So I don't eat pig meat or things like that. I eat fish and fowl."

His new film, "The Sorceror's Apprentice," is inspired by Disney favorite "Fantasia." In modern-day Manhattan, average teen Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) hones his magical powers under the tutelage of master sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Cage).

Cage stars in the upcoming film "Hungry Rabbit Jumps" about a high school teacher who bands ...

With Iron Man 2, Kick-Ass, The Losers and Jonah Hex all hitting the multiplex this summer, the onslaught of comic book movies shows no signs of slowing (for better or worse). Leaving the Green Hornet (who started as a radio show) and Scott Pilgrim (indie press slacker hero) for later debate, we’ll get you up to speed on the heavy hitters from comics’ Big Two, DC and Marvel that are heading to the big screen in the next few years, culminating (supposedly) in epic team-ups for both universes!

Rainn Wilson, Liv Tyler, Ellen Page And Kevin Bacon In A Superhero movie!

5/4/2010 2:30pm EDT
Rainn Wilson
And the next superhero is… Rainn Wilson? The funnyman from The Office has landed a role in an all star comedy called Super. Writer/director James Gunn, who also wrote Scooby-Doo and the Dawn of the Dead remake, has a different sort of take on superheroes.

“It’s a story of a man who wants to be something more than human,” Gunn said. “He attempts to do that with varying levels of success. It’s Rainn Wilson, Kevin Bacon, Liv Tyler and Ellen Page. Rainn loses his wife, Liv Tyler, to this drug dealer and he decides to become a super hero (The Crimson Bolt) to fight what he perceives as a superv...

"How to Train Your Dragon" has made a total of $178 million in the U.S. alone.

"The Back-Up Plan" finished in second place with a modest $12.25 million.

A Look At The Tribeca Film Fest And How You Can Participate Online

4/21/2010 11:30am EDT
My favourite time of year!
Back in 2008, I had recently moved to New York wanting to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a writer. I’d just come from California where I fulfilled a different dream of becoming a musician and thought, if I could be writer anywhere, it might as well be here. I got a gig writing columns for Starpulse and after a couple of months, my editor approached me about covering the Tribeca Film Festival. The craziest part… I was a music writer. I’d sort of decided early on that I would write these long-winded musical thesises, partly to exercise my brain of all of this musical data that I had sto...

'Dragons' Barely Beats 'Kick-Ass' At Box Office

4/19/2010 9:43am EDT
How To Train Your Dragon
Animated hit "How To Train Your Dragon" has narrowly beaten action comedy "Kick-Ass" to the top of the box office chart, according to early studio estimates.

The family film scraped ahead with a weekend gross of $20 million on its fourth week on release, compared to "Kick-Ass'" opening takings of $19.8 million.

But it will be another close call for the second week running - the two movies could easily switch positions when exact ticket sales for Sunday are calculated on Monday.

Meanwhile, romantic comedy "Date Night" is at three this week with $17.3 million, while "Death at a Funeral" en...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies- 'The Losers,' 'The Back-Up Plan,' & More

4/19/2010 9:12am EDT
The backup Plan
I saw three movies that opened theaters last week, each of which I enjoyed in a different way. If you haven’t checked it out yet, definitely take a peek at my review of “Kick-Ass” which received my highest praise. Since this week is rather light at the box office, go see “Kick-Ass” if you have not already.

The sports drama “The Perfect Game” about a Mexican baseball team that becomes the first non-American team to compete in the Little League World Series is quite charming. It comes off as a mixture of “The Mighty Ducks,” “The Bad News Bears,” and “Angels in the Outfield.” While it doe...

'Kick-Ass' Lives Up To Its Name

4/16/2010 9:21am EDT
Kick-Ass Poster
Matthew Vaughn’s “Kick-Ass” features young superheroes but don’t be mistaken; this is NOT a movie for kids. These protagonists inhabit a world riddled with violent crime, where the average citizens are sheep. The general public is more interested in watching others being victimized than stepping in to help. Our heroes in “Kick-Ass” are tired of sitting back while evil men carry out vile deeds, and they are willing to fight fire with fire to take down the bad guys.

Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) is your average nerdy high school kid. He wastes time talking comics with his friends and he ...

Lyndsy Fonseca's Purple Ruffled Cocktail Dress - Hot Or Not?

4/14/2010 5:30pm EDT
Lyndsy Fonseca
"Kick-Ass" star Lyndsy Fonseca showed up to the film's Los Angeles premiere in a ruffled purple cocktail dress. We're not sure we like the dress, but we like the girl who's wearing it! The actress plays high school hottie Katie Deauxma in the film.

"Kick-Ass" is based on Mark Millar and artist John S. Romita Jr.'s comic book. According to AP, the film "hurtles along breathlessly, from a brilliant opening gag to a climax whose action is hysterical but also disturbing."

British actor Aaron Johnson has fired back at critics upset about the fact an 11-year-old girl (Chloe Moretz) uses foul l...

Chloe Moretz Is Awfully Cute At The 'Kick-Ass' Premiere

4/14/2010 1:46pm EDT
Chloe Moretz
13-year-old Chloe Moretz showed up at the "Kick-Ass" Los Angeles premiere yesterday looking darling in an age-appropriate strapless pink dress.

The film, which hits theaters on Friday, April 16, tells the tale of an average New York teenager (Aaron Johnson) who decides to don a costume and fight crime. Chloe plays Hit-Girl who, along with her father Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage), sets her sights on local mob heavy Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong).

Chloe no longer fits into the outfit she wore for the film. And she is quite happy she'll never have to don the leather costume and mask again: "The suit...
