Rachel Bilson Gets Medical For New TV Series

Former O.C. star Rachel Bilson is heading back to TV as a doctor in a new drama series.

The Jumper actress returned to the small screen last year for a guest part in hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother, but she has now signed up for a more permanent role in upcoming show Hart of Dixie, about a New Yorker practicing medicine in a small Southern town.

It is Bilson's first big TV project since The O.C. came to an end in 2007.

The show will premiere on America's CW network later this year.

Hollywood stars Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen have reportedly rekindled their romance - three months after calling off their engagement.

The couple became engaged in December 2008 but parted ways in August, amid reports they were struggling to maintain a long-distance relationship, with the former "O.C." star living in California and the "Star Wars" hunk in his native Canada.

Now the stars, who met on the set of the 2007 sci-fi movie "Jumper," are said to be giving their romance another try.

A source tells, "They're dating again."

Rachel Bilson is heading back to TV - she's reuniting with "The O.C." creator Josh Schwartz for a new drama series.

The 29-year-old star has been making the transition from the small screen to Hollywood since the hit teen drama was axed in 2007, landing roles in sci-fi thriller "Jumper" and 2009's "New York, I Love You."

But Bilson, who recently made a guest appearance on comedy "How I Met Your Mother," is returning to TV schedules once again after signing on for "Ghost Angeles," about a young Los Angeles woman who can talk to the dead, reports

Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson have officially called off their engagement and ended their relationship.

The couple, which announced plans to wed in early 2009, was rumored to be taking a break to re-evaluate its romance after Bilson was spotted out in Los Angeles without her engagement ring in June.

When asked about her planned nuptials, she told reporters: "No, no (wedding) plans...No nothing."

Now a spokesperson for the former The O.C. star has confirmed she is no longer dating "Star Wars" hunk Christensen. Her rep simply tells, "Yes, the engagement is off."
