Quentin Tarantino's cult war movie Inglourious Basterds was inspired by a little-known 1940s film about three U.S. gangsters on a mission to kill Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

The moviemaker admits he came up with the idea for the quirky Brad Pitt film after watching 1942 drama Hitler - Dead or Alive.

The "Inglourious Basterds" star has reportedly pulled out of a promotional appearance at the New York Film Festival after dislocating a bone in his pelvis while preparing for his new movie.

Oscar winner Christoph Waltz is to reteam with his Inglourious Basterds director Quentin Tarantino for a new take on cult spaghetti western Django.

Django Unchained will also reportedly feature Italian actor Franco Nero, who played the original Django in Sergio Corbucci's 1966 film and a 1987 sequel, Django Strikes Again.
