Petra Nemcova praises The Impossible for tsunami accuracy

Model Petra Nemcova struggled to watch acclaimed 2012 disaster movie The Impossible because it was a very accurate reminder of the tsunami that claimed the life of her boyfriend.

The Czech beauty was one of the survivors of the 2004 disaster in Thailand - she clung to a treetop with a shattered pelvis watching holiday makers and locals getting swept away by the tidal wave.

The tragedy was recounted in The Impossible, in which Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor portrayed a real-life couple who also survived the disaster.

'The Impossible' Crew Feared The Movie Was 'Cursed'

The Thai crew working on tsunami film The Impossible initially feared the production was "cursed" and performed a ritual to improve their luck, according to actor Ewan McGregor.

The new drama chronicles the story of a family's survival in the aftermath of the horrific Indian Ocean tidal wave that killed more than 230,000 people on December 26th, 2004.

McGregor travelled to Thailand to shoot scenes on location and admits bouts of bad weather prompted fears among locals that the project was doomed.

Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts' latest film The Impossible is set to change lives as proceeds from the London premiere will benefit victims of the 2004 Asian tsunami.

The movie charts the story of a family caught up in the catastrophe and funds raised from the screening's ticket sales will be donated to the Indian Ocean Disaster Relief (IODR) charity.

The glamorous event will take place on November 19th at London's BFI IMAX cinema and will be attended by the movie's stars as well as director Juan Antonio Bayona.

Tsunami Film 'The Impossible' May Break Spanish Box Office Records

The Impossible
Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts' new disaster movie The Impossible is on course to break box office records in Spain.

Juan Antonio Bayona's drama, which chronicles a real-life family's struggles during the tsunami which lashed the coast of Thailand over Christmas in 2004, is set become the highest-grossing release for a Spanish film.

The feat will topple 2001 movie The Others, which grossed $35.5 million domestically, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Impossible opened in Spain on October 11 and has already racked up $35.4 million at the box office.
