Jennifer Lawrence & Liam Hemsworth Nearly Caught Fire While Promoting 'Catching Fire' In Cannes

During the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend, Jennifer Lawrence and her "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" co-star Liam Hemsworth nearly caught on fire after a tray of candles fell on them at a party.

According to JustJared.com, the stars attended a bash in honor of the film, and a huge column holding a plate of lit candles toppled over and almost hit Lawrence on the head.

A source explained: "(They) were sitting on a sofa in the VIP section of the party when all of a sudden, an 8-foot column with a platter of candles on top fell on top of them.

Lionsgate Releases First Official 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Poster

The Hunger Games Catching Fire
As fans eagerly wait for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" to hit theaters next fall, Lionsgate has released the first official poster from the film.

The image features Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen standing on top of a cliff with a tagline pulled directly from author Suzanne Collins' book:  "The sun persists on rising, so I make myself stand."

Earlier this year the studio released Capitol portraits of the cast of characters from the popular franchise, and the first trailer dropped in April.

Finally, The Hunger Games sequel has begun five wonderful weeks of filming on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Many fan pictures have been uploaded across the internet and indeed show the cast filming the Quarter Quell scenes on Oahu's North Shore. Island residents have also reportedly seen the cast and crew setting up in lush Manoa Valley, a beautiful spot where the TV show Lost was filmed multiple times.

Liam Hemsworth will continue to film "The Hunger Games" sequel despite injuring his knee on set.

The Australian actor, 22, twisted his leg last week while shooting on location in Atlanta, Georgia, but he refused to take time out from the film to recover because he didn't want to disrupt everyone's schedule.

'Hunger Games' Final Book 'Mockingjay' To Be Split Into Two Films

Lionsgate has decided to split the final book from "The Hunger Games" trilogy into two films. "Mockingjay" will become "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1," and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2," according to Entertainment Weekly.

Summit Entertainment did the same thing with the final "Twilight" book, producing "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" and "Part 2." Warner Bros. also did it with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" and "Part 2."

The filmmaker behind I Am Legend and Water for Elephants will replace Gary Ross, who stepped away from the book-to-film franchise in March.
