Box Office Predictions: 'Divergent' Set To Win Weekend Over 'Muppets'

Box Office Predictions: 'Divergent' Set To Win Weekend Over 'Mup
1) Divergent- 60M Weekend, 60M Total

Sure, it seems low, given how massive The Hunger Games was. But Divergent isn’t The Hunger Games, and it hasn’t been getting as good of reviews. I still feel like I’m lowballing it a tad, but almost every other figure I’ve seen for Divergent is below mine. I think the reviews are factoring in, and people don’t see any growth over the weekend, rather the potential for drops.

2) Muppets Most Wanted- 22M Weekend, 24M Total

Counter-programming. The last Muppets did well over Thanksgiving weekend, so the hope is that the sequel will do similar business. Ho...

Wes Anderson commissions movie cologne

February 28th, 2014 3:20am EST
Wes Anderson
Director Wes Anderson has commissioned a cologne inspired by his new film, The Grand Budapest Hotel.

The filmmaker's latest project centres on a concierge at a Central European hotel, played by Ralph Fiennes, who has a penchant for spritzing himself with a fragrance called L'Air de Panache.

Anderson, who previously described the scent to the New York Observer as having a "Russian quality, like Orthodox incense", decided to bring the cologne to life with the help of perfumer Mark Buxton.

Experts at Buxton's French boutique Nose have now created a complex aroma, which is described on the s...

Box Office Predictions: ‘Robocop’ Or ‘Lego’?

Box Office Predictions: ‘Robocop’ Or ‘Lego’?
1) The Lego Movie- 47M Weekend, 126M Total

I’m predicting a decent drop for The Lego Movie, as the winter storm barraging the country seems to be affecting box office already. Many theatres in affected areas are closed, and some theatres will see limited attendance anyway as people don’t want to go outside. For those that do, I’m sure The Lego Movie will remain a top choice.

2) Robocop- 21M Weekend, 25M Total

Robocop won’t beat The Lego Movie. I know I made it seem like it might, but it won’t. Sorry. I wouldn’t have predicted it anyway, and then I saw the mid-week grosses (Robocop opened...

Wes Anderson's 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' To Premiere At The Berlin Film Festival

November 5th, 2013 4:15pm EST
CELEBNAME
Wes Anderson is set to kick off the 64th Berlin International Film Festival on February 6, 2014 with the world premiere of his new film, Grand Budapest Hotel.

The film, Anderson's eighth as director, stars Ralph Fiennes as the titular hotel's concierge befriends a young lobby boy (newcomer Tony Revolori) and takes him under his wing as his unofficial apprentice.

The film was shot on location in Germany, making it the perfect place for it to premiere, as many had assumed it would bow at next year's Cannes Film Festival.

Two of Anderson's previous films, "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou...

'The Grand Budapest Hotel' Trailer: Just a Man and His Lobby Boy

October 17th, 2013 11:38am EDT
Grand Budapest Hotel poster
Oh, how Wes Anderson does thrill and bewilder at the very same time.

On the one hand, the ultra wry, witty and more importantly original writing-directing style of the "Moonrise Kingdom" and "The Royal Tenenbaums" mastermind is like a homing device for Hollywood's top tier talent (this time, including Ralph Fiennes, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton, Willem Dafoe and Jason Schwartzman, among many others). But on the other, let's be honest. You've gotta be pretty with it to make heads or tails of what's happening half the time lest you miss out on some super hip joke ...
