'Act Of Valor' Triumphs At Box Office; 'Wanderlust' Flops

An action film featuring real Navy Seals has topped the box office in America.

"Act of Valor" has debuted at number one with an opening weekend take of $24.7 million.

"Tyler Perry's Good Deeds" opened in second place with an estimated $16 million, while Jennifer Aniston's much-hyped comedy "Wanderlust" and Amanda Seyfried's thriller "Gone" flopped at U.S. cinemas with $6.6 million and $5 million openings respectively.

One of actress Amanda Seyfried's biggest passions is collecting dead animals.

The star, who was recently cast in an upcoming remake of Les Miserables, stopped by the Conan show Tuesday night to promote her new film, Gone, and she explained to host Conan O'Brien that she has an affinity for collecting taxidermy.

"I have a three-week-old miniature horse and I have a chick, who I just got," she said. "Her name's Linda. She's not alive, but her name would have been Linda. And then I have an owl, named Beatrix and I have a few butterflies - that's about it for now. I'm just getting started."

Leading into the Academy Awards this upcoming Sunday, I’m trying to catch up on all the Best Picture nominees which I missed in 2011. Last night I watched the Alexander Payne drama “The Descendants” starring George Clooney, which I liked immensely. I found its Best Picture and Best Actor nods much deserved, though I felt it was a bit too heavy on the narration and the Hawaiian music for my taste. My Grade: A-
