Quantum of Solace
Filmmaker Martin Campbell has criticized bosses of the Bond franchise by blasting Quantum Of Solace as "lousy."

Campbell directed Pierce Brosnan's debut outing as the suave superspy in 1995's GoldenEye before returning to helm Daniel Craig's debut in "Casino Royale."

He was mooted as director for the follow-up, Quantum of Solace, in 2008, but the job eventually went to Marc Forster - and Campbell has now taken aim at the movie's producers, accusing them of ruining his good work on Casino Royale.

Campbell tells Total Film magazine, "The truth was it was a lousy film. Casino Royale really ...

Alan Cumming Slams President Obama Over Gay Rights

October 25th, 2010 10:12am EDT
Alan Cumming
Scottish actor Alan Cumming has taken aim at U.S. President Barack Obama, accusing him of failing to improve gay rights since he swept to power.

The GoldenEye star is furious Obama has delayed on his pledge to overturn the 'Don't ask, don't tell' policy, which bans openly-gay citizens from serving in the military. And he is adamant the failure to throw out the rule means the U.S. leader is refusing to tackle homophobic bullying.

In a post on his official blog, Cumming writes, "We keep hearing that Obama is an ally, that Don't Ask, Don't Tell will end under his watch, but what do we actu...

Is This It For James Bond? Find Out In This Week's EW

August 5th, 2010 9:15pm EDT
Daniel Craig As James Bond
With MGM up for auction - and no buyer in sight - the world's greatest film franchise lies in peril. This week's cover story investigates what's next for James Bond, and whether Daniel Craig has sipped his last shaken martini.

Up until last spring, it looked as if James Bond would indeed return, but after decades of invincibility, it seems as if 007 has finally been defeated, at least for the foreseeable future. What's holding up production on the next movie is the sale of MGM, which went up for auction last November and still hasn't found a buyer. Then, in July, there was more reason t...

Attack Of The Comic Book Movies

February 12th, 2009 12:02pm EST
Watchmen
Bringing comic book heroes (and villains) to the big screen has meant big bucks for movie studios in recent years. With huge budgets and state of the art special effects, it's easier than ever for filmmakers to convincingly create the fantasy worlds that classic comic characters inhabit, both delighting die-hard "geeks," and captivating folks who've never picked up a comic book in their lives.

Comic book films have always been popular, dating back to the movie serials of the 1940s featuring Superman, Batman, and Flash Gordon, just to name a few. Christopher Reeve's "Superman" in 1978...

November 13th, 2008 10:56am EST
Quantum of Solace
This Friday, Sir Ian Fleming's James Bond is back in theaters. Daniel Craig has brought a brute anger to the role that has not quite been seen before. In the very least, as we learned in the 2006 version of Casino Royale, he certainly does not care any longer how his martini is served. Craig is under contract for one more Bond film after Quantum of Solace, but what if he does not return after that twenty-third film? What will his post Bond career look like? Let's take a look at all the actors who have played 007 -- rouge film, or not -- and what their post Bond careers looked like.

Underrated & Overrated Movie Songs

November 7th, 2008 1:13pm EST
Neil Young
We all know the real reason we go to the movies. It isn't the thrills or the chills, the laughs or the gaffes, the drama or Lorenzo Lamas, no; we all hit the theater to hear the music. That is, we love to hear the one big song associated with any film.

The marriage of music and movies has long been exceptional. Whether it's "Theme From a Summer's Place" or "Blame Canada", nothing raises a film's enjoyment factor quite like a good tune.

Problem is, most songs simply aren't that good. A lot of these film tunes come from a great movie and are thusly mistaken as great music when i...

With the release of Roger Moore's autobiography, My Word Is My Bond, and the upcoming Quantum Of Solace (the 22nd film in the Official James Bond franchise), we couldn't help but ponder: Who is the best 007 EVER? He must also:

1. Be a snazzy dresser.

2. Have a hot Bond girl.

3. Have a bitchin' ride.

4. Have a killer theme song.

5. Have a relaxing off-hours diversion.

There's nothing better - or more intimidating - than someone with a combination of good looks, lots of money, unbridled talent and intelligence. But some celebs have it all. Beauty, money, power and an impressive academic pedigree. So here is Starpulse's list of the most erudite celebrities, and some might come as quite a surprise. (Conan O'Brien went to Harvard?)
