Paul Feig To Direct 'Ghostbusters' Reboot Starring 'Hilarious Women'

"Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig has confirmed that he's helming the upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot and that the lead stars will be all women. He's pairing up with "The Heat" screenwriter Katie Dippold

Feig revealed the news on Twitter, writing:

It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call.

'Ghosbusters 3' Cast May Be Female-Driven
The upcoming "Ghostbusters" film could possibly feature a female-driven cast, and filmmaker Paul Feig is in talks to write, produce and direct the third film in the franchise, according to TheWrap.com.

Ivan Reitman, who directed the 1984 film and its 1989 sequel, stepped away from the project in March. He had co-written the script for the upcoming film and was forced to rework it after original actor Harold Ramis died in February.

Reitman will continue his role as a producer, and Sony Pictures is hoping Feig will team up with Ethan Cohen to rewrite a female-centric script.

After Bill Murray turned down multiple offers to join Ghostbusters 3, we haven't heard much about the long-awaited and troubled sequel - until now.

Dan Aykroyd first revealed the film had been greenlit back in 2009, and not much else has happened with the movie's production other than several stories on Bill Murray's involvement.

Schmoesknow is now reporting that Jonah Hill and Emma Stone have been offered roles in the film, which has been rumored to follow a new generation of Ghostbusters while also featuring the classic cast.

Bill Murray refused three offers to be involved in the much-anticipated "Ghostbusters" sequel, according to former co-star Dan Aykroyd.

Earlier this week actor Harold Ramis reportedly said that Murray was back on board for the third installment of the film, but his comment has was revealed to be a hoax.

Despite Murray's lack of involvement, the film is still going ahead with shooting expected to start at the end of 2013, according to Aykroyd.

Lost In Translation star Bill Murray is back on board the Ghostbusters 3 movie after reportedly dropping out of the sequel.
