On Super Bowl Sunday, the best and baddest of the professional football world will lay it on the line for the biggest of prizes. But only a select few will go on to achieve an even greater glory: movie superstardom.
Okay, the odds of anybody from the NFL rubbing shoulders with Daniel Day-Lewis is somewhat slim, but there have been several former players who have acquitted themselves well on the big screen.
Join us as we salute these gridiron heroes-turned-silver screen stars. (Pros only, please: Sorry, former college star The Rock.)

Spotlight On The Cute And Quirky Zooey Deschanel
If you haven’t heard of Zooey Deschanel, you are most likely living under a rock. She’s the cute and quirky girl from Elf, 500 Days of Summer and the one of the only new fall shows that seem to be thriving, New Girl. We love her for a few different reasons. She is married to Death Cab for Cutie front man, Ben Gibbard (I’m sure they make the sweetest music together), she is not afraid to be a big dork (see New Girl) and her character in Failure to Launch (the only good thing about that movie).
The thirty one year old was born in Los Angeles into an entertainment family, hence her and her si...

Girl Crush Of The Day: Zooey Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel is smarter than you. She's also sassier, wittier and hotter. It's the combination of these and other factors that imbue her acerbic performances with an edgy sexiness. And yet she never loses the sweetness that makes her so approachable.
Zooey Deschanel is, quite simply, bewitching. This is by no means an original thought; there isn't an interview, review or consideration of the lady that doesn't invoke her turquoise eyes, milky skin and jet-black hair.
Even in mainstream fare such as Failure to Launch, she's the sardonic edge that keeps the film from drowning in its o...

Spotlight On Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper has been acting for an entire decade but he's just starting to get his well-deserved fame. It seems you can't open a tabloid without coming across his name and who he is allegedly linked to. Although he claims to be just friends with Jennifer Aniston, pictures of their "date" were plastered all over the magazine covers and they are still a hot topic in celebrity gossip. Did he blow her over, is she just not that into him, do we really care?

READ MOREMatthew McConaughey Discusses 'Surfer Dude,' Rumors About Him & More
It must be nice being Matthew McConaughey. While making the film "Surfer, Dude" - out on DVD Dec. 30 - he spent time with friends and co-stars Woody Harrelson and Willie Nelson. Just minutes from the beach, the cast and crew wrapped filming each day, sat back with a few cocktails (and who knows what else) and hung out. Sounds like more play than work.
So how different is McConaughey from his weed-smoking, naked didgeridoo-playing character in "Surfer, Dude?" The actor took some time on a windy California morning to talk to Starpulse about the film, how he stays fit, several rumors tha...

READ MOREV Stands For Victory At Box Office
The futuristic terrorist thriller V For Vendetta topped all its rivals at the US weekend box office in the US, claiming the top spot with a $26.1 million debut. The film stars Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving in a story of revolution against the British government.
The debut was strong enough to bump last week's box-office leader Failure To Launch into second place with $15.8 million. Disney's remake of family classic The Shaggy Dog fell one place to third with $13.6 million.

Sarah Jessica Parker Talks About Getting Older, Finding Good Roles
Sarah Jessica Parker is hoping to change Hollywood stereotypes of placing 20- and 30-something actresses in romantic roles. Following the demise of her show Sex And The City in 2004, the 40-year-old actress has played the romantic lead in two box office hits, The Family Stone and Failure To Launch.
And while Parker admits she is often sent scripts for younger roles, she hopes she can convince producers to consider 40-something females in the same parts.
She says, "I read the script the other day and I said to my agent, 'I'm too old for this part now.' I knew it as soon as I rea...

Matthew McConaughey Mourned Death of Chipmunk
Matthew McConaughey grew so fond of his chipmunk co-star in new movie Failure To Launch, he insisted on staging a proper funeral service for the critter when she died during filming. The highly-trained animal had to pretend to bite the movie hunk in the romantic comedy, but that didn't stop him from falling in love with the chipmunk.
And when the creature died, he was devastated.
McConaughey says, "Everyone in the woods gets really quiet, whispering, 'The chipmunk died, the chipmunk died. She was number one. She had her SAG (Screen Actors Guild) card and everything.'

Sarah Jessica Parker Denies Feud Rumors
Sarah Jessica Parker has laughed off reports of friction with her Failure To Launch co-star Matthew McConaughey. An insider recently told MSNBC's The Scoop that the hunky actor found Parker "peculiar" and "couldn't bear (her)." However, the actress speaks highly of her onscreen sweetheart, saying he was "a pleasure to work with."
The 40-year-old star adds she has been a victim of malicious gossip since reports of drama on the set of her long-running Sex And The City series surfaced years ago. She says, "I got branded as a bitch by gossips desperate for there to be bitter rivalry when t...

Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker star as onscreen sweethearts in Failure To Launch, but the actor reportedly couldn't stand Parker off-screen and found her 'peculiar.' The pair were starring in a breezy romantic comedy, but sources on the set say filming was anything but fun.
