Michael Moore Heckled At New York Film Critics Circle Awards
Michael Moore was given a frosty reception at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards on Monday as he was heckled when he stepped on stage to present a prize.
The Fahrenheit 9/11 director was on hand to present the Best First Film trophy to David France for his documentary How To Survive a Plague, about a protest at a Catholic cathedral in New York City in 1989. During his presentation, Moore described the real life events, which were sparked by a cardinal's controversial comments about homosexuality and HIV at the height of the AIDS crisis.

Michael Moore Joins With Wikipedia, Shuts Down Websites To Protest SOPA
Director Michael Moore is blocking his websites on Wednesday in an act of solidarity with bosses at Wikipedia.com, who are protesting against proposed anti-piracy laws in the United States.
The encyclopedia website is used by millions around the world on a daily basis, but it will 'go dark' for a full 24 hours as a demonstration against The Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (SOPA) laws being considered by Congress.
The proposals could see search engines and other content providers punished if pirated material is uploaded, and "Fahrenheit 9/11" moviemaker Moo...

Trailer Talk - This Week In Movies: 'Zombieland,' 'Whip It' & More
I've been going over my zombie survival plan and acquiring a variety of weapons in preparation for the arrival of "Zombieland" in theaters this week. Actually, I haven't been acquiring weapons since purchasing a gun is a lengthy process in Massachusetts, but I have been foaming at the mouth to see this zombie comedy since I watched the initial trailer several months ago.
Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson look like the perfect odd couple paired together in the hopes of survival. Eisenberg oozes the fraidy cat vibe in every clip I've seen of the movie, while Harrelson does his best mac...

Five Most Overrated & Underrated Political Films
We just went through the most fascinating and compelling election season ever in the television age. A lot of people are glad it's over, but there are those who simply can't get enough of the entertainment that is politics.
Unfortunately for the latter group, the only politics on TV right now involves Sarah Palin making the rounds and discussing the matters of a state with a population density that makes the Sahara Desert look like mid-town Manhattan. In other words, it's a snoozer.
So the last respite for these political junkies is the political movie. But which to choose? Th...

John McCain And Barack Obama Trade Jokes; Who's Funnier?
Barack Obama and John McCain trade serious barbs against one another during the Presidential Election. But recently we got to see the two tell a few jokes about the other candidate as well as themselves. Watch the two videos below and decide who is funnier!
Last night was the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner. Since 1960, it has been an event in which presidential candidates give speeches and help the foundation sell tickets to raise money for Catholic charities (this year's draw? $3.9 million).

Oliver Stone's 'W': Is This Movie Necessary?
Turn on any television lately and it is near impossible to avoid the immense amount of political coverage being offered -- which is not necessarily a bad thing, considering the magnitude of this years election. One of the few refuges from the pundits and wonks was the local Cineplex, this all changes this weekend with the release of Oliver Stone's W.
The question is: Is this movie necessary? Well, maybe. It is an interesting dynamic that this movie is being released -- thanks to a rush production job; they started filming in May! -- while George W. Bush is still very much the President...

Michael Moore 'Shouldn't' Make 'Fahrenheit 9/11' Sequel
Controversial filmmaker Michael Moore confesses he shouldn't be allowed to make a sequel to his controversial documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 - because its plot is "toxic." The Oscar winner has signed a deal to begin work on the follow-up to his hit film, and is currently offering the idea to foreign buyers at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
The original film took aim at the Bush government in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in September 2001.
But Moore admits making another controversial documentary will be "risky."
He says, "It's something I shouldn't make, so...

Michael Moore Confused By 'Controversial' Label
Filmmaker Michael Moore is confused by critics who label him "controversial", because he doesn't see why people are upset with his documentary making. Moore has made a name for himself with hard-hitting documentaries like 2002's Bowling For Columbine, 2004's Fahrenheit 9/11 and his latest film, Sicko, which follows a group of sick 9/11 rescue workers seeking free medical care in Cuba.
But he insists he is only asking the same questions as other members of the U.S. public, who don't have the platform to air their concerns, and claims he is still a patriotic American citizen, despite wh...

Michael Moore Claims That Teenagers Like His Rebel Status
Michael Moore believes his movies appeal to teenagers because of his anti-establishment credentials. Moore, whose 2004 documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 slammed President George W. Bush's response to the September 11th terrorist attacks, is proud his films are teaching a new generation to question their surroundings.
The 53-year-old tells MTV.com, "The reasons my films have been popular amongst teenagers is because I'm an adult your dad's age, but I'm telling you to stick it to the man! I want young people to rebel. I want them to break the rules, to not just do what they're told."

Michael Moore Faces Jail Over Cuban Filming
Controversial documentary maker Michael Moore faces jail after breaking U.S. trade laws to make parts of his hard-hitting new film, Sicko, in Cuba. Moore hired a boat and took a group of ill 9/11 rescue workers to Guantanamo Bay in the hope of getting them the same healthcare as Al Qaeda detainees, after learning they get free teeth cleaning, eye care and nutrition counseling.
The filmmaker and the rescue workers were turned away and instead found a doctor in Havana, Cuba willing to treat each one.
Moore shot footage of their Cuban healthcare encounter for his film, which address...

Tobey Maguire Blasts Michael Moore's Politics
Actor Tobey Maguire has slammed filmmaker Michael Moore for his overtly political films and documentaries. The Spider-Man star is determined not to mix acting with politics for fear of looking "silly" and has little time for Moore's efforts, including Fahrenheit 9/11.
He says, "I don't want to discuss politics... It can look a little silly for actors to talk politics. I don't mind if it comes off the right way; but look at Michael Moore, the way he twisted some public figures. They're not thinking; it's just off the cuff, and he makes them look an a**."

Disney Offers Mel Gibson's 'Apocalypto' To Other Studios
Disney will not release Mel Gibson's latest movie in the wake of his drunken anti-Semitic tirade, it has been reported. The studio was to release the actor's new project Apocalypto on December 8, but has now decided to offer it to other distributors, according to Fox news.
Among the potential studios that could pick up the film is Lions Gate, an independent company which has picked many unwanted movies in the past. Most famously it released Michael Moore's controversial 9/11 documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 when Miramax was prevented from putting it out because of its agreements with Disney...

Michael Moore: 'Movies Aren't Very Good Anymore'
Filmmaker Michael Moore has branded Hollywood blockbusters the root of falling cinema sales. The Fahrenheit 9/11 director is fed up of hearing poor excuses for the dwindling box office numbers, arguing more people would watch movies if the standard of films increased.
He says, "The continued decrease in attendance is not because of piracy, video games, or the internet, it's because the movies aren't very good anymore."
Moore reports sell-out viewings at the second year of his Traverse City Film Festival in Michigan last week.
