Trailer Talk - This Week In Movies: '9,' 'Whiteout' & More

September 8th, 2009 9:03am EDT
Whiteout
I've heard good reviews of the Mike Judge comedy "Extract" that came out last week, and I might add it to my list of movies to see, which still includes "District 9" and "Cold Souls." I haven't had as much time to make it to the movie theater lately as I've wanted to.

An unusual combination of movies hits theaters this week: two documentaries, one animated film, two thrillers, and a comedy. Premiering at the box office this week are "9," "I Can Do Bad All By Myself," "Whiteout," "Sorority Row," "The September Issue," and "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour." ...

2009 Fall Movie Previews
With summer coming to an end, there's one major thing to consider: what's going to be entertaining for the next three months? We assume you're thinking the same thing (great minds being alike and all), so here's the rundown of what Hollywood has coming:

Gamer (09/04/09)

Director: Mark Neveldine, Brian Taylor

Starring: Gerard Butler, Michael C. Hall

Gamer will be one of the coolest movies of the season because it actually manages to bring a fairly new concept to the action genre. In the near future, with mind control technology pretty much commonplace, billionaire Ken Castle (Michael...

Review: 'Extract' Is Funny But Not What Expected

September 3rd, 2009 9:44am EDT
Extract
"Extract" is not quite what was expected. Sure, it's funny. Sure, the awkward uncomfortableness of previous Mike Judge films ("Office Space," "Idiocracy") is here. There's just something, well, different. Certainly not in a bad way. There's just something a little more Grown Up about "Extract." If "Office Space" is the equivalent of a 25 year old human being, "Extract" represents that same entity at 38. And there are plenty of comparisons to be made to "Office Space."

Jason Bateman plays Joel (a mature and barely less disillusioned Peter Gibbons), the owner of an vanilla extract plant wh...

Q&A: Dustin Milligan On Being A Male Gigolo In 'Extract' & Leaving '90210' For Good

September 2nd, 2009 11:30am EDT
Dustin Milligan
Dustin Milligan, formerly Ethan Ward of the new "90210," (Sorry ladies, he says there's no chance in hell he's returning) co-stars in the new Mike Judge directed film "Extract" (full review tomorrow). We've seen the film, and Dustin does his best to steal the scene as male gigolo Brad from co-stars Jason Bateman and Ben Affleck - notorious scene stealers themselves.

Dustin discusses what it's like to work on a Mike Judge film, his childhood porn watching habits and figuring out why Kristen Wiig thinks he's a perv.

Mike: The production notes from "Extract" describe Brad as a "dull-wi...

'Beavis And Butt-Head' Return To Promote Mike Judge's New Film, 'Extract' (Video)

September 2nd, 2009 11:04am EDT
Beavis and Butt-Head Mike Judge Extract
Jason Bateman, Ben Affleck, Mila Kunis and Kristen Wiig star in writer/director Mike Judge's (Office Space) latest film about an extract factory owner (Bateman) who is going through a multitude of personal and work-related problems in his life, such as a cheating wife and an unfortunate mishap with a worker in his plant.

To help promote the film Judge resurrected two of his most classic characters, Beavis and Butt-Head, to share their thoughts about the film. According to the pair of 90s nit-wits, "Extract" is "an important new film" with a guy named 'Bateman' in it. You can probably se...

Mike Judge Takes The Boss's Side In 'Extract'

August 31st, 2009 11:15am EDT
Extract
Mike Judge stuck it to the man with Office Space. The working man's anthem let the cubicle grunts get revenge on their bosses. Now in his latest comedy Extract, he takes the boss's side. Jason Bateman plays the owner of an extract factory, full of slacker employees.

This represents Judge's own transition from working stiff to media mogul. "I had worked so many jobs, by the time I got into animation, I was pushing 30," Judge said. "I'd already had so many jobs and I was always the employee, never had anybody working for me. Suddenly, when Beavis and Butthead happened, I had 30 to 90 peop...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Gamer,' 'Extract' & More

August 31st, 2009 11:11am EDT
Gamer
Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" is my recommendation for the must-see movie of the summer. Anyone who has an appreciation for Tarantino's films will love this WWII epic.

Divided into chapters like his other directorial work, this story follows a much more linear path than earlier movies, but it still reflects his unique style and flair. Musically "Inglourious Basterds" feels like one part spaghetti western, one part 80s rock ballad, elevating the intensity of emotions and violence in a number of scenes.

As Lt. Aldo Raine, Brad Pitt is a crude, ruthless, brutally honest ...

The film "Extract" is about a flower-extract plant owner contending with an ever-growing avalanche of personal and professional disasters. An injured employee threatens to sue, someone is stealing wallets, and the boss's wife may be sleeping with another man.

'Arrested Development' Cast: Where Are They Now?

March 7th, 2009 11:35am EST
Arrested Development
The family that chicken dances together, stays together. With the February 24 announcement that Michael Cera - the lone holdout - had finally signed on for the long-rumored Arrested Development movie, message boards went bonkers for Bluth bananas.

Cera is easily the most successful and visible post-Bluth. With SuperBad, Juno, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Sundance darling Paper Heart, this kid has perfected the tentatively awkward comedic timing that made you root for the love story of George Michael and his cousin Maeby.

Where have the Bluths been since we last laughed a...
