Ender's Game
In the near future, a hostile alien race, the Formics, have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham, all would have been lost.

In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin, a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.

Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult war games, distinguishing himself and winning respect ...

Box Office Predictions: 'Thor: The Dark World' Will Repeat At No. 1

November 15th, 2013 12:11pm EST
Thor: The Dark World
1) Thor: The Dark World- 40M Weekend, 145M Total

With no real direct competition, and good word of mouth, Thor is still “the movie to see” this weekend. It will likely dip in half, and still do far more than everything else in theatres. It will have to contend with the juggernaut that is The Hunger Games next week, so it’s good that it is mopping up as much money as it can right now.

2) The Best Man Holiday- 17M Weekend, 17M Total

As the weekends only new release, as well as being a holiday themed release, you’d think The Best Man Holiday would shoot to the top. Unfortunately, I’m not su...

'Thor: The Dark World' Hammers The Competition At The Weekend Box Office

November 10th, 2013 11:59pm EST
Thor: The Dark World
Marvel and Disney's latest superhero flick, Thor: The Dark World, has dominated the weekend box office, pulling in $86.1 million.

While the sequel to 2011's "Thor" failed to break the $100 million mark like recent Marvel predecessors "Iron Man 3" and "The Avengers," the film opened abroad last week and has now amassed a whopping $327 million worldwide, putting it well over its $170 million budget.

Johnny Knoxville's Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa held strong at second, adding $11.3 million to its three-week total, while two of last week's debuts, "Free Birds" and "Last Vegas" flip-flopped ...

Hot: Justin Bieber Visits A Brothel, Miley Cyrus Hooks Up With Benji Madden, 'Enders Game' Wins

November 4th, 2013 10:05am EST
Justin Bieber
Two weeks ago Justin Bieber was spotted partying in a Texas strip club, making it rain and grabbing dancers' backsides. The pop singer took things to a whole new level over the weekend though. Friday night the singer was spotted leaving the Centauros brothel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and two women from the place (hookers?) were brought back to his hotel separately. The singer was covered with a sheet while leaving the club, but the tattoos on his left arm were a clear giveaway. (story...)

Is Miley Cyrus rebounding with Good Charlotte singer Benji Madden? The two were spotted hanging out t...

November 4th, 2013 8:22am EST
Ender's Game
Sci-fi epic "Ender's Game" easily dominated the weekend box office, taking in $28 million.

The film, based on a book by Orson Scott Card, centers on a group of children who are trained in military space tactics to combat a hostile alien race. Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Asa Buterfield and Abigail Breslin star.

Johnny Knoxville's "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa" took second place at the box office with $20.5 million, bringing its total to more than $62 million in two weeks.

Tying at three were animated film "Free Birds" and "Last Vegas," which stars Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Mic...

'Ender's Game' Review: Asa Butterfield Holds His Own Against Harrison Ford

November 1st, 2013 3:01pm EDT
'Ender's Game'
The film 'Ender's Game' was a pleasant surprise since I never read the book (written by Orson Scott Card). That might have something to do with the fact that I'm not a 12 year old teenage boy or girl. Apparently the book and its sequels sold zillions of copies.

For those of you who don't know what 'Ender's Game is about, here you go. There are these super nasty aliens, known as the Formics that have attacked Earth - I'd probably be nasty as well if I looked like them. Unless you find humongous insects with lots of arms your idea of beauty you won't taking these guys home to your mother any...

Box Office Predictions: 'Ender's Game' or Will 'Free Birds' Fly?

October 31st, 2013 8:00pm EDT
Ender's Game
1) Ender's Game- 25M Weekend, 25M Total

My gut instinct is that Enders Game is going to disappoint this weekend. Adobe started tracking social media responses to upcoming films, and singled Enders Game out as one of the films most likely to crash and burn this season. I’m going to lowball this, but other prognosticators think this can do over 30M.

2) Free Birds- 22M Weekend, 22M Total

I see a lot of low numbers for Free Birds, but the marketplace is very largely adult right now. Even Enders Game doesn’t feel like a kids movie, so I don’t know if families will flock to it or not. November...

Sweet 16: Chloe Grace Moretz & Hailee Steinfeld Look Charming At Their New Film Premieres

October 8th, 2013 2:00pm EDT
Hailee Steinfeld & Chloe Grace Moretz
Young starlets sometimes try to eschew their child star images by dressing too mature for their age or showing a little too much skin on the red carpet. Sixteen-year-old actresses Hailee Steinfeld and Chloe Grace Moretz are the exception.

Moretz attended the Hollywood premiere of her upcoming film "Carrie" on Monday looking lovely in a green Valentino gown with a dandelion print design.

In her new film, Moretz plays Carrie White, a shy outcast with a very religious mother. When she is bullied at her senior prom, she uses her telekinetic powers to terrorize the entire town. The Stephen Kin...

Harrison Ford Attempts To Bridge The Divide Surrounding 'Ender's Game' Controversy

July 19th, 2013 9:18am EDT
Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford has publicly voiced his opinions about the outspoken conservative stance of the author behind Ford's upcoming movie, Ender's Game.

Orson Scott Card, writer of the 1985 sci-fi graphic novel, has been a very active proponent of the board of the National Organization for Marriage; an organization which openly opposes same sex marriage and unions, which he joined in 2009.

The big screen adaption of Card's sci-fi thriller has angered gay-rights activists who cry in outrage that such a radicalized author's work might have anti-gay undertones. The National Organization for Marriage...

Dustin Lance Black: 'Ender's Game' Boycott Is A 'Waste Of Energy'

July 15th, 2013 6:07pm EDT
Dustin Lance Black
Academy Award winner Dustin Lance Black isn't backing an Internet movement to boycott Ender's Game.

Last week we reported Geeks Out was starting a boycott of the sci-fi film due to author Orson Scott Card's public statements on homosexuality. However, the openly gay Black has no plans to join the movement and has called it a "waste of energy."

The LGBT activist Black writes on his Facebook page, "Boycotting a movie made by 99% lgbt equality folks in an lgbt equality industry is a waste of our collective energy. Making one phone call to a relative in the south who isn’t quite there yet wou...

Activists Boycotting 'Ender's Game' Due To Orson Scott Card's Anti-Gay Statements

Ender's Game
Geeks Out, a gay rights activist group, has called for a boycott of the upcoming Ender's Game film due to statements made by the author of the book, Orson Scott Card.

Card is a member of the National Organization for Marriage, which spends millions of dollars battling same sex marriage laws. He has also made several statements against gay marriage, including a piece in the Mormon Times where he wrote, "Married people attempting to raise children with the hope that they, in turn, will be reproductively successful, have every reason to oppose the normalization of homosexual unions.”

In 1990...

Harrison Ford's new movie Ender's Game has been targeted by gay rights activists who are urging fans to boycott the movie over the controversial views of the author behind the story.

First 'Ender's Game' Trailer Puts Faith In The Next Generation

May 8th, 2013 1:07pm EDT
Ender's Game
What were you doing when you were 6 years old? In the new trailer for Ender's Game, Ender is saving the world.

Of course, in the film adaptation of the Orson Scott Card sci-fi classic, the kids are closer to 16 - we guess the production was gun-shy on the prospect of having a dramatic role in the hands of a group of 6 year-olds.

Instead, we have Asa Butterfield in the titular role (you may recognize him from Hugo), with Abigail Breslin and Hailee Steinfeld as his sister and classmate, respectively. All three of the young stars have been nominated for Academy Awards during their short care...
