Cute Pic Of The Day: Jennifer Garner & Her Daughter In A Horse & Carriage

August 26th, 2010 11:32pm EDT
Jennifer Garner
Jennifer Garner took her daughter Violet on a horse and carriage ride around New York's Central Park earlier this week.

The mother and daughter played pat-a-cake and laughed as they took in the sights. Later, Jen took her eldest daughter to see the Broadway production of "Mary Poppins."

Jennifer is one of the most down-to-earth celebrities we know. Last month she bought gas to help two stranded strangers get on their way. The actress was driving in Los Angeles when she came across two helpless women whose car had run out of fuel.

Everything Geeky - Give Female Superheroes A Chance!

August 4th, 2009 2:25pm EDT
Wonder Woman
At the San Diego Comic Con I was speaking with Michael Jelenic, the writer of the recent animated movie "Wonder Woman," and we were lamenting that the film did not do quite as well as everyone hoped. Even with the positive critical response and excellent promotion, it just didn't get the high sell numbers fans were waiting for, although it did moderately well overall.

The reason I personally watched closely was because without proving that a female superhero can sell DVDs and toys, it is unlikely we'll see very much more of it in the mass media. They mostly sold the movies Elektra and C...

DC Movies vs Marvel Movies: Which Are Better?

June 12th, 2008 10:00am EDT
Dark Knight
After months of anticipation the two candidates are finally ready to square of against one another. There has quite possibly never been such a sharp contrast the American public has to choose between. One candidate possesses the mind of an intellectual while the other uses gut instincts. One maintains a trim and chiseled physique and the other uses brute strength to get his point across. One is a relative newcomer that was born in the early 1960's while one has a long and storied history having been born in the late 1930's. Are we talking about Barack Obama and John McCain? Well… I suppose ...

Famous June Brides: Happily Ever After?

June 3rd, 2008 8:30am EDT
Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban
Historically, some married in the month of June to honor Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage. Others did it to time conception so births wouldn't interfere with harvest work. Brides in the 15th century chose to marry in June because it coincided with their "annual bath" - you read right - thus ensuring a relatively sweet-smelling honeymoon.

Centuries later, June has remained the most popular month to wed. In MGM's 1954 Academy Award-winning musical, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers the song "June Bride" trills: "Oh, they say when you marry in June, you're a bride all your life."

Video Games Do Not Make Good Movies

January 14th, 2008 11:18am EST
Street Fighter
There are some things in Hollywood that just do not work: Lindsay Lohan and sobriety, most marriages, Tim Allen tackling roles not involving Christmas, and successfully adapting a video game into a movie. Why is this so hard?

The powers that be can take a 700-page book and trim it down to a two-hour story. Either they are picking really bad video games to adapt or the people involved just suck. There has yet to be a quality adaptation. So why do studios keep insisting on producing them? They even screwed up Doom, a story that involves Marines fighting aliens. How is that even possible...

The Pop Your Collar singer took time out of his schedule to help volunteers remove debris which has left the International School of Louisiana unusable since the disaster last August. He said: "To see it, in this state, it's devastating. I'm here to physically do something and hopefully motivate other people to do the same."

On Monday, Usher met with students at Xavier and Dillard University, whose campuses were flooded. One of them, 21-year-old Trivia Frazier, said: "It's very ins...
