It is unclear if Benicio del Toro, who was attached to play Moe, remains in the cast. Peter Farrelly admits they are now "opening the roles up to the world" as they attempt to find the perfect actors for the parts...

Top 10 Acting Performances By Athletes

August 27th, 2009 10:35am EDT
Cam Neely as Seabass
A director getting the optimum performance out of an actor is not unlike a coach getting a great performance out of an athlete. One has to use the right guy in the right scene with expert timing. These are situations where one could film countless scenes of all different kinds, and getting laughs so big with these athletes would seem impossible - they're almost perfect. Remember, the fellas on this list appear here because they got the biggest laughs, not because they were the best actors or in the best movies. While Something About Mary is a funnier and better movie than many on this l...

The Farrelly Brothers Can Make 'The Three Stooges' Movie Work

May 11th, 2009 11:47am EDT
The Three Stooges
When it comes to being funny, the Farrelly Brothers aren't joking. They've cast two Oscar winners, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro, (neither known for their comedic chops, at least not lately) as the immortal stooges Moe Howard and Larry Fine. They've also cast Jim Carrey as the corpulent Curley Howard. He's being expected to put on a good forty pounds for the role, a feat that's more reminiscent of Robert De Niro's transformation for the film, 'Raging Bull', than any comedy. (Fat suits and Jack Black don't count.) So why are the Farrelly brothers putting so much emphasis on the dramatic sid...

Worst Jobs On Film

April 3rd, 2009 3:56pm EDT
Most people can empathize with a movie character who's stuck in a horrible, dead end job. We've all had that one job where we'd rather stab ourselves in the eye then go into the office for eight hours of pure torture. Whether it's a boring office job, a customer service-related job, or working at a run down amusement park for the summer like in Adventureland, some jobs are excruciating!

As a tribute to Adventureland, which opens today, we're spotlighting the worst jobs portrayed on film.

In The Pineapple Express, Seth Rogen plays a process server who serves people subpoenas to ap...

Is It OK To Dislike Caddyshack?

January 5th, 2009 12:00pm EST
Caddyshack isn't that good, and it's not very funny. If you're 9 out of 10 red blooded American men, that last sentence just infuriated you like I just made slanderous remarks about your grandmother. I've never met your grandmother, but I have seen Caddyshack - and it kind of sucks. My editors were quick to advise me that although they were giving me the go-ahead on this piece, they would have to include a bigger than usual disclaimer saying that the opinions expressed are solely that of Matthew J. Swanson. I'll tell you that right now, too: it is just my opinion, but it happens to be t...

Worst Dates In Movies

June 16th, 2008 8:45am EDT
Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalo
First dates are always awkward. Between not knowing what to say, fumbling with the check when it arrives at the table, or wondering whether there will be a kiss at the end of the night, these situations are ones people can't wait to overcome. Sometimes first dates can be disastrous from the start, and you hope to God you never see the other person again, that is if you don't die of utter embarrassment right there on the spot.

Hollywood loves to over emphasize situations and showcase things that probably would never happen in real life; at least you hope they'll never happen to you! He...

Jim Carrey
Funnyman Jim Carrey has vowed never to wed his long-term girlfriend Jenny McCarthy - because he doesn't want to jinx their good relationship.

The divorcee has been wed twice before, first to former actress Melissa Wormer - with whom he has 20-year-old daughter Jane - in 1987, and then again in 1996 to his Dumb And Dumber co-star Lauren Holly. That union ended after less than a year. And Carrey cites his bad track record for wanting to steer clear of any more wedding vows.

He says, "I'm happy with Jenny, although I probably won't get married again. If you've done it twice you rea...

Point/Counterpoint: Should There Be A Separate Comedic Category For The Academy Awards?

February 13th, 2008 1:00pm EST
Think of your favorite comedies. Whether it be Monty Python And The Holy Grail, Caddyshack, Animal House, or recent films like Dumb and Dumber, Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin or Borat, they all have something in common. Each film boasts incredible performances, and the Academy has not recognized any of them. How is this fair? Bill Murray, Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller - all the successful comic actors should get their due.

It is equally hard to create a great comedy as it is to make a gripping drama. The Golden Globes have a separate category for comedic perfo...

Starpulse Q&A: Comedian Nick Swardson Talks About New Album, Life & Movie Projects In The Works

October 23rd, 2007 2:38pm EDT
Nick Swardson - Party
On his debut comedy album, Party, Nick Swardson claims that it's ironic that he's a comedian because off stage he's not a good story teller, but in this Starpulse Q and A he proves otherwise.

Swardson's career itself is an interesting tale. Performing improv at sixteen and then delving into standup several years later, Nick achieved the distinction of being the youngest comedian to have his own Comedy Central Presents.

One night, Adam Sandler saw the special and was so impressed by the performance that he phoned him the next day, leading to a partnership that allowed Nick to act...

Jessica Alba Lost A Tooth Filming Kissing Scene

September 20th, 2007 11:03am EDT
Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba has lost her perfectly sexy look after chipping a tooth during a kissing scene in her new movie. The actress admits she and Good Luck Chuck co-star Dane Cook went too far with one energetic love scene and they both needed dentistry work.

She explains, "I chipped my front tooth doing a kiss with Dane and he chipped his bottom tooth. We were doing this comedic Mr. & Mrs. Smith love scene, and we were slamming into walls and breaking things and tumbling over couches and stuff. At one point, he slammed my head into a picture frame and, while my head was smacking into the wall...
