2010 Summer Movies Are Bad, But Past Years Have Been Worse (Video)

As usual, the lineup for summer movies this year was star-studded and full of sequels. However, most of them have been critically panned and - even worse - they are not racking up ticket sales. Still, there have been far worse summer selections.

In an interesting pattern, it seems every 9 years there is a "stinker" summer movie slate. In 2001, our summer selections looked like this: A Knight's Tale, Pearl Harbor, Scary Movie 2, Planet of the Apes, The Mummy Returns, Swordfish, Dr. Dolittle 2, Rush Hour 2, Tomb Raider, Jurassic Park III, and Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Mel Gibson has been left devastated after hearing the news of a construction worker's suicide at his California home. The body of 48-year-old Michael John Van Dyke, who reportedly hanged himself, was found at the Agoura Hills property on Wednesday.

The house is currently under heavy construction and the Lethal Weapon star and his family were not present at the time of the incident. Australian naturalist Steve Irwin has died after being stung in the chest by a stingray while diving on the Great Barrier Reef early today.

The charismatic star, dubbed the Crocodile Hunter after his hit TV show, was diving off Australia's northeast coast filming an underwater documentary.

Local diving operator Steve Edmondson, whose Poseidon boats were out on the Great Barrier Reef when the accident occurred, confirms, "Steve was hit by a stingray in the chest. He probably died from a cardiac arrest from the injury."

Legendary musician Isaac Hayes goes back to the '70s when he guest-stars on That '70s Show. Hayes begins shooting next week and his episode is scheduled to air in spring 2006 (exact date TBA). In this episode, Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) tries to create a hipper persona for himself at the beauty salon where he works as a shampoo boy. While at the salon, Fez has a fantasy in which Hayes shows up and performs a hilarious musical number.
