The 1970s. The era of disco, bell bottom jeans, and phenomenal moviemaking. Hollywood’s golden age surged in the seventies, a time where gifted filmmakers carved their niche in the studio system and created films unlike anything seen before. From maverick moviemakers who created their penultimate masterpieces to the birth of the modern Hollywood blockbuster amongst a sea of commercial duds, the seventies were one of the hottest times in filmmaking even in the wake of the Cold War. 'Dirty Harry', 'The Matrix' And 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' Added To National Film Registry

Dirty Harry, The Matrix and Breakfast At Tiffany's are among the films which have been named national treasures and added to the country's National Film Registry.

Clint Eastwood's popular 1971 cop movie and Keanu Reeves' 1999 sci-fi blockbuster have been selected for the honor, along with Audrey Hepburn's turn in the classic adaptation of Truman Capote's novella.

The annual list of 25 movies, which are selected for their "important cultural, artistic and historic achievements in filmmaking," also includes Madonna's 1992 baseball film A League Of Their Own, 1957's 3:10 To Yuma, A Christm...

Movie veteran Clint Eastwood is indulging his love of sport by launching a new TV channel dedicated to golf.

The Dirty Harry star, an avid golfer, has been working as a consultant to develop Back9 since its inception in 2010 and has now been named creative board chairman and founding shareholder of the golf lifestyle network.

In his new role, Eastwood will meet with executives to discuss programming and casting choices after Back9 launches in the spring.

Clint Eastwood has donated the fee he received for his controversial Super Bowl commercial to charity.

The Dirty Harry star was accused of endorsing President Barack Obama's re-election campaign in his two-minute advertisement for American car giant Chrysler, about the resurgence of the auto industry in Detroit, Michigan.

In the clip, which debuted during the football showdown on Sunday, Eastwood says, "They almost lost everything. But we all pulled together - now Motor City is fighting again. Yeah, it's halftime, America. And our second half's about to begin."

Movie icon Clint Eastwood has signed up as an honorary chairman at a Washington D.C. memorial museum to help pay tribute to America's fallen police officers.

The Dirty Harry legend will take on the leadership role at the not-yet completed National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum and he'll also front an advertising campaign for the institution.

Clint Eastwood's latest movie Hereafter has been removed from cinemas in Japan because of its "inappropriate" tsunami scenes.

The Dirty Harry star directed Matt Damon in the recently-released drama, which tells the story of three people who are all affected by death in different ways. One of the characters suffers a near-death experience in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and the scenes have prompted studio chiefs to pull the film from Japanese theaters in the aftermath of Friday's devastating earthquake in the country.

Aleph Records will release the soundtrack for The Enforcer on June 26. The Enforcer was the third film of the five film "Dirty Harry" series, and the only of the films composed by the late composer Jerry Fielding. The other four films all boasted scores by Lalo Schifrin. Aleph Records, has also released the scores for the first two films of the series, Dirty Harry and Magnum Force. The entire original score for The Enforcer has never been released, only excerpts from the score appeared on the original soundtrack LP.
