Pharrell's Happy to play on loop for 13 days for charity

Pharrell's hit song Happy will be played on an endless loop for 13 days via streaming music service iHeartRadio to promote the United Nation Foundation's International Day of Happiness on 20 March (14).

The Oscar nominated track from Despicable Me 2 has already topped the charts in 20 countries, and now Pharrell is using his song for good through a new United Nations initiative.

Starting on Tuesday (18Mar14), Happy will be played non-stop on a dedicated iHeartRadio station online, and will continue until 31 March (14).

'Gravity' Leads BAFTA Nominations

'Gravity' leads the BAFTA Film nominations with 11 nods.

The space drama is up for a string of accolades, including the coveted Best Film and Outstanding British Film, while its star Sandra Bullock is also nominated for Best Actress and filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron is nominated for Best Director.

'American Hustle' and '12 Years a Slave' received nominations in 10 categories, while 'Captain Phillips' is up for nine awards.

All four of the top nominated movies will contest for Best Film, along with 'Philomena'.

Hip-hop star Pharrell Williams has topped off a hugely successful 2013 with a new number one - Happy has climbed to the top of the U.K. singles chart.

The song, from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, swapped places with Christmas chart-topper and The X Factor winner Sam Bailey, whose Skyscraper slipped to two, just ahead of dance star Avicii's Hey Brother at three.

Happy is Williams' third U.K. number one of the year - collaborations with Daft Punk on Get Lucky and Robin Thicke for Blurred Lines also hit the top spot over the summer (13).

Pharrell Williams has created the very first 24-hour long music video, which features fans and celebrities lip-syncing to his new track, Happy.

The innovative hip-hop superproducer has released a day long video for his four-minute song, which is featured on the soundtrack to the animated hit film, Despicable Me 2.

Viewers can log on to 24hoursofhappy.com and create their own version of the Happy video by switching between channels which showcase different people dancing and singing along to the song.

Steven Spielberg's revamped dinosaur movie Jurassic Park 3D has shot to the top of the global box office thanks in part to a monster interest in China.

The film picked up another $30 million (£20 million) in ticket sales over the weekend - almost all of that coming from China, where the movie opened last week (ends23Aug13).

The new Jurassic Park made $45.4 million (£30.2 million) when it was released in America earlier this year (13) and it has since gone on to rake in $44.5 million (£29.7 million) overseas.

For the first time in over a month an animated film isn't on top at the weekend box office. After four weekends dominated by Monsters University and Despicable Me 2, live-action thriller The Conjuring has earned the top spot with $41.3 million in ticket sales.

The film, which stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as real life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, raked in more than twice what the movie cost to make during it's first weekend.

'Despicable Me 2' Tops Weekend Box Office For Second Straight Week

The giant robots of Pacific Rim were no match for the Despicable Me 2 Minions this weekend, as the family feature topped the box office for a second straight week.

The sequel to 2010's Despicable Me raked in another $44.8 million, bringing its two week total to just shy of $230 million.

Another sequel, Adam Sandler's Grown Ups 2 came in second despite being the summer's worst-reviewed movie, according to Rotten Tomatoes.com.

'Despicable Me 2' Makes History In Mexico

Animated sequel Despicable Me 2 has made history in Mexico by becoming the first film to be distributed to cinemas digitally via satellite.

Distributors at Contenido Alternativo worked with Universal executives and boffins to place the hit new film in 281 Cinepolis theatres ahead of the movie's release on Friday.

The cost-cutting measure took "a few hours to deliver, compared to three or four days that it usually takes to copy and distribute hard drives to all the theatres", according to Contenido Alternativo CEO Juan Manuel Borbolla.

Actor Benjamin Bratt jumped at the chance to join the cast of animated family film Despicable Me 2 in a bid to impress his children.

The former Law & Order star, who has also recently appeared in TV comedy Modern Family and medical drama Private Practice, stepped in at late notice to replace Al Pacino after the veteran quit the film in May (13), and Bratt admits the opportunity to make his daughter Sophia and son Mateo proud of dad was his main motivation for signing up for the project.

Al Pacino has pulled out of his voiceover role in Despicable Me 2, prompting the film's producers to scramble to get the film ready for its July 3 release.
