Death Hunt Review
Death Hunt is an entertaining if rather familiar throwback to the days of classic action cinema. The "unjustly accused outlaw versus grizzled lawman" plotline won't win any prizes for originality but, it is solidly constructed and spiced up with plenty of amusing tough-guy banter by writers Michael_Grais and Mark_Victor. Better yet, it gives Lee_Marvin and Charles_Bronson plenty of room to strut their stuff: although the two only share one brief scene together, they anchor the film with their tough, no-nonsense charisma. Their work is ably supported by an array of excellent character actors, with the best turns by Carl_Weathers as Marvin's trash-talking fellow mountie and Ed_Lauter as the hateful, sadistic trapper who starts the whole mess by angering Bronson. Finally, and most importantly, director Peter_Hunt directs with economy and skill, adding plenty of punch to the action and making excellent use of the snowy, scenic Yukon location.
