Trailer Talk - This Week In Movies: '9,' 'Whiteout' & More
I've heard good reviews of the Mike Judge comedy "Extract" that came out last week, and I might add it to my list of movies to see, which still includes "District 9" and "Cold Souls." I haven't had as much time to make it to the movie theater lately as I've wanted to.
An unusual combination of movies hits theaters this week: two documentaries, one animated film, two thrillers, and a comedy. Premiering at the box office this week are "9," "I Can Do Bad All By Myself," "Whiteout," "Sorority Row," "The September Issue," and "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour." ...

Turning Twenty: A Look Back At 1988's 'Beetlejuice'
Half "Bloody Mary" and half decomposing sleezeball, Beetlejuice is the titular anti-hero that helped put Tim Burton into the who's who of Hollywood. Now at its 20th anniversary, let's take a look back at a sparkling example of dark comedy that stands as a precursor to Burton's magical films.
The Movie
Reading the cast list will illicit at least one "oh yeah, he/she was in this" reaction. The ensemble would also make a 1990s romantic comedy cast director salivate: Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, an appearance by the late Robert Goulet, and...

'Sweeney Todd' A Perfect Fit For Burton And Depp's Dark Sensibilities
''Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'' is the quintessential Tim Burton movie, even though it springs from somebody else's celebrated mind.
Everything about Stephen Sondheim's revered musical, which provided the inspiration for the film, seems tailor-made for the director's sensibilities. Truly, what other filmmaker could tell the story of a vengeful barber (Johnny Depp) who slits his customers' throats and the lovesick baker (Helena Bonham Carter) who grinds up the dead bodies for her meat pies?
It's strangely beautiful and beautifully strange, with horrific subject m...

Tim Burton Directs The Killers New Video
Las Vegas rockers The Killers have added a little star power to their next video by inviting quirky Corpse Bride movie maker Tim Burton to direct it. The director is the brains behind the band's “Bones” promo.
The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers is thrilled with Burton's efforts: "He recreated things that have been torn down in Las Vegas, like the Glass Pool Inn, which had holes in the pool where you could see people swimming. There's a little love story and the couple starts taking each other's skin off until they're skeletons."
