Sam Worthington To Be The Next James Bond?

April 26th, 2012 11:24am EDT
Sam Worthington
Sam Worthington is the actor most likely to step into James Bond's shoes when Daniel Craig hangs up his Walther PPK, according to Britain's leading bookmaker.

Craig is currently shooting scenes for his third outing as the suave superspy in Skyfall, which is due for release in 2014, and shows no signs of retiring from the role.

However, when he eventually moves on from the 007 franchise, Avatar actor Worthington - who was born in Britain but grew up in Australia - is hot favorite to take over the coveted part, followed by English actor Tom Hardy and Shame star Michael Fassbender.

He confessed to Empire magazine, "I wanted to do a second Titans film because I personally think I wasn't very good in the first one. I think I could've worked a lot harder on Clash." He's humble! He explains, "When we did Clash of the Titans we found it hard to act with each other, so I would look at his forehead and he would look at my forehead because if we made eye contact it would go quite silly.

Liam Neeson in The Grey
This weekend, audiences will get the chance to see Liam Neeson fight a pack of hungry wolves in order to say alive in “The Grey” from director Joe Carnahan. Though he has become a worldwide action star with films like “Taken” and “Unknown,” 15 years ago the Irish-born former amateur boxer was better known for dramas like “Schindler’s List” and “Michael Collins.” That’s not to say he takes the craft of acting any less seriously now than he did back then. He is still as talented and charismatic as ever, only now he seems to be having a lot more fun.

So how did Neeson go from being a serious ...

If I could make a recommendation about going to see “Clash of the Titans,” it would be not to see it in 3-D. While most viewing experiences are enhanced by of 3-D, its use in this film largely detracts from the product. Director Louis Leterrier’s closely pinned shots are unsteady and jarring to the viewer in 3-D, resulting in a headache inducing experience.

The art direction in “Clash of the Titans” is thorough, creating a vivid portrait of ancient Greece and the mythological figures that were part of everyday lore. Corny dialogue and cliché story weigh down this adventure film though. ...

'American Idol' Recap: Usher, Diddy, Ruben & Sam Worthington Bid Didi Farewell + Power Rankings

Even the Gods, it seems, couldn’t have saved Didi after that performance last week. And certainly not the judges.

“American Idol” is always a study in product placement synergy, but tonight it went a little over the top. It seemed the first half of the show was simply a commercial for “Clash of the Titans”. It seemed that way because that’s all it was. So much so that the producers decided to forego the group number. Maybe over-commercialization isn’t such a bad thing.

Last night was also the last night for Didi. Admittedly, Didi was so forgettable that I really don’t have a whole lo...

Sure, digital effects can look more "real" than the rubber and clay monsters created by legendary stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen for the 1981 original, but better? "Better" is a subjective term.

Ask "Star Wars" geeks which Yoda they prefer. When Luke Skywalker landed on Dagobah in 1981's "The Empire Strikes Back," the Yoda he encountered was a foam and latex puppet, voiced and manipulated by Frank Oz. The "real" Jedi Master ...
