It’s a top ten list with everything from cool to school (of fish that is!) and everything in between. That’s right fans, we’re checking out my official..."Best of 2012 Top Ten Movie Posters!" (Plus a notable stinker collage at the end!)

1. "DUST UP"

What poster master Drew Struzan was to the 80’s, original Artist Akiko Stehrenberger is to the year 2000. After havi...

Cabin in the Woods Novelization
If you saw The Cabin in the Woods several times in theaters like I did, then you also can’t get enough of Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon’s horror masterpiece. One of the best parts about their intriguing flick is noticing more nods to genre classics and jokes with each viewing.

You should be able to catch anything that you missed last screening and find out all sorts of delicious new factoids when the film arrives on DVD. While you’re waiting for your chance to watch it at home though, Titan Books has released two great ways to get your Cabin fix: The Cabin in the Woods - The Official Movie...

Whedonites Assemble For 'Joss Whedon: The Complete Companion'

Whedon Companion Cover
Joss Whedon is finally receiving the widespread recognition he deserves as a writer, director, and producer. We have his hit 2012 flicks The Avengers and The Cabin in the Woods to thank for that. Before Whedon achieved mainstream success though, he already had a rabid cult following. His admirers endlessly analyze the television shows, comics, and films that he creates. Heck, my alma mater even has a class exclusively on his show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Leveraging Whedon’s devotees, Titan Books and the magazine Pop Matters have distilled fan commentary into a single book entitled Joss Whe...

Romantic comedy Think Like a Man has finally knocked The Hunger Games from the top of the box office chart after a four-week reign.

Henson, Meagan Good and Gabrielle Union - grossed $33.3 million during its first weekend, while The Hunger Games came in third this week with $14.5 million in box office receipts, bringing the film's overall U.S. take since opening to a whopping $356.9 million.

The Lucky One, based on Nicholas Sparks' novel and starring teen heartthrob Zac Efron also bested Games, comi...

The Hunger Games
"The Hunger Games" has continued its reign atop the box office after seeing off the competition for the fourth week in a row.

The much-hyped movie, which stars Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth, has now become the first film in three years to hold onto the top spot for one month since James Cameron's "Avatar" was released in 2009.

The film grossed a total of $21.5 million over the weekend, bumping its domestic earnings to a staggering $337.5 million.

"The Three Stooges" debuted in second place with takings of $17.1 million and thriller "Cabin in the Woods" entered at third after rakin...

'The Cabin In The Woods' Turns The Horror Genre On Its Head

April 14th, 2012 10:00am EDT
'The Cabin In The Woods
'The Cabin in the Woods,' written by Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer & Avengers) and Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) who also directed, is one of the most clever horror films I've seen in a really long time.

Without giving too much away, here's the scenario: Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods and really horrible things start to happen to them. But trust me, it's not what you think or what you've come to expect from your classic horror film.

For me, the highlight of the film involves a group lead by Bradley Whitford and Richard Jenkins and if I told you their involvement it w...

'The Cabin In The Woods' Gets An 'A' For Effort But Falls Short

Cabin Woods photo
On the one hand I applaud the attempt by both co-writers Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon to reinvigorate the horror genre by mocking certain conventions and creating all new ones. But in its wry attempt to be a step ahead of typical slice and dice fare, "The Cabin In The Woods" at times comes off as too clever and as a result never feels like its letting the audience in on the joke.

The set up is pure "Evil Dead" cabin retro, with four young and naïve kids heading out to an isolated log hut to do a little partying. The initial addition is in the form of a gang of suit and tie desk jockeys w...

When Fran Kranz and Kristen Connolly first signed on for the Joss Whedon-penned horror flick The Cabin in the Woods, they immediately knew they were going to be part of something special. Helmed by Drew Goddard making his directorial debut, the film tells the story of five college friends who travel to a remote cabin in the woods for a relaxing weekend getaway. They soon discover unimaginable terrors there, and together they must survive long enough to learn the truth behind the mysterious cabin.

Originally shot in 2009 under MGM, the film sat on the shelf for two years because the studi...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'The Cabin In The Woods,' 'Three Stooges' & More

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
My high hopes for the fourth “American Pie” movie were dashed after I saw “American Reunion.” There was plenty of 90s nostalgia and some of the trademark humor that you love from the franchise, but on the whole the film was pretty depressing. For more of my thoughts, check out the full review.

Dropping in at the box office this week are the Joss Whedon penned horror film “The Cabin in the Woods,” the modern-day take on a classic comedy trio in “The Three Stooges,” the action packed sci-fi movie “Lockout,” the African American kidnapping thriller “Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day,” ...
