Helen Fielding Kills Off Mark Darcy In Latest 'Bridget Jones' Novel

Bridget Jones fans were left reeling on Sunday when news broke that author Helen Fielding has killed off the title character's husband, Mark Darcy, in her latest novel.

Britain's Sunday Times published an excerpt of Fielding's new book, "Mad About The Boy", revealing that the unlucky-in-love Jones, 51 and a widowed mother of two. The story takes place five years after Darcy's death, when Jones meets new beau, 30-year-old Roxster, on twitter.

Studio bosses at Working Title Films have confirmed they are working on a third movie about homely literary heroine Bridget Jones.

The first Bridget Jones's Diary film, starring Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, debuted a decade ago and a sequel arrived in 2004.

Actress Renee Zellweger became a hit with the paparazzi on Wednesday after buying one thoughtful snapper a $100 Starbucks gift card.

The unnamed photographer spotted a parking attendant doing his rounds as he was waiting for the movie star to leave her coffee shop retreat after a shopping trip in Santa Monica, California.

The quick-thinking snapper dropped coins into her meter to make sure Zellweger didn't get a ticket - and she thanked him with a handshake, a smile and a coffee card.
