Shia LaBeouf: A Former Disney Star Who Is Bucking The Trend

June 23rd, 2009 10:12am EDT
Shia LaBeouf
Shia LaBeouf is an interesting young Hollywood star because unlike a variety of former Disney stars, he's managed to slide his way into the adult acting world with very few bad moves.

Born to an interesting family in California, his mother a ballerina/designer and his father a former mime, his name means "Gift from God" in Hebrew and is often mispronounced by fans and critics alike (it's SHY-uh). Shia started acting as a child, starting in "Caroline in the City," but he became famous for playing Louis Stevens in the Disney show "Even Stevens."

This success came rather quickly for Shi...

March 19th, 2009 1:46pm EDT
Lindsay Lohan
Dear Lindsay,

Well? What's next? The world is waiting. Remember that little rehab stint and the comeback that typically comes after it?

Everyone is rooting for you. We loved you in The Parent Trap - those freckles! The accent! Twins! We loved Mean Girls and the adorable-turned-bitchy Cady that you played. Everyone liked the Lindsay with boobs and red hair, and we really couldn't get enough. We couldn't wait to see what grown-up movie you would do next...

Then came A Prairie Home Companion, Just My Luck, Bobby, Chapter 27, Georgia Rule, and I Know Who Killed Me. To break...

Sharon Stone
Turning 40 was a big deal for Sharon Stone because suddenly movie roles and freebies dried up. The actress admits she was looking forward to becoming a 40 something back in 1998, but ageist attitudes to Hollywood stars left her floored.

She tells More magazine, "I thought... 'I'm fantastic and sexy and amazing!' (But) it was like, 'You have leprosy.' I couldn't get a dress or a job."

She bounced back with acclaimed roles in the movies Casino, Broken Flowers and Bobby, and turned 50 earlier this year.

Movie Review: 'I Know Who Killed Me' Might Have Been A Guilty Pleasure, Now It's Just Sad

July 27th, 2007 10:33pm EDT
I Know Who Killed Me
Until very recently, the prospect of ''I Know Who Killed Me'' might have seemed utterly tantalizing. Perpetual train wreck Lindsay Lohan plays a stripper, and famously suffered bruises all over her body when she got all Method-y and actually trained for the role on a pole. It might have been fun, if only in a late-night, laugh-out-loud kind of way.

Now, after yet another arrest and further evidence of a worsening substance abuse problem, it just seems sad - a sad waste of talent, a sad lack of judgment, a sad course for a promising career.

But the film itself, which wasn't screene...
