Vivendi Games' (VG) Sierra Entertainment has announced the development of The Legend of Spyro A New Beginning, the latest installment to the Spyro franchise to all major consoles and handhelds. This epic story of Spyro's quest is amazingly brought to life by leading Hollywood voice-over cast members Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings trilogy) as the new voice of Spyro; David Spade (The Benchwarmers) as Spyro's sidekick Sparx the dragonfly; and Gary Oldman (Sirius Black from the Harry Potter films) as Ignitus, the Fire Dragon Elder and Spyro's mentor.

The fourth installment of the Scary Movie franchise has climbed to the top of the box office with $41 million in ticket sales, setting a new record for the Easter weekend. The film marks the first number-one hit for the new company founded by former Miramax bosses Bob and Harvey Weinstein.

The Ice Age sequel is still melting hearts in America after taking in a hefty $34.5 million in its second week on release. Ice Age: The Meltdown crashed into the number-one spot on the box office list last week with a $70.5 million debut, and it's easily keeping the competition off the top. The family film also becomes the first film to cross the $100 million mark.

Rob Schneider refused to take steroids to prepare for his upcoming role in The Benchwarmers, insisting no amount of drugs could boost his athleticism. The actor and avid San Francisco Giants baseball fan took batting cues from scandal-laden left-fielder Barry Bonds to prepare for the comedy about three friends desperate to reclaim their childhood by challenging little league teams, but he wouldn't touch performance enhancing drugs.
