August 7th, 2012 11:18am EDT
The Beach
Danny Boyle's hit 2000 movie The Beach is to be adapted into a TV series.

The film, based on Alex Garland's bestselling novel, starred Leonardo DiCaprio in the tale of a group of tourists who set up home in a Thai paradise with disastrous consequences.

The Beach garnered around $150 million at the worldwide box office, and 12 years later, bosses at the TV affiliate of the studio behind the movie, Twentieth Century Fox, have commissioned a small screen version.

Andrew Miller, the man behind popular but short-lived teen series The Secret Circle, will write the script.

Q&A: Danny Boyle Talks 'Trainspotting' Sequel Plans With Original Cast, His Films, Plus Bonus Blu-ray Review

September 12th, 2011 3:00pm EDT
Danny Boyle
If there is one filmmaker who I could proudly proclaim as the best and most diverse director working today, hands down it’s Danny Boyle. His amazing originality, ability to re-invent himself with each movie and sheer eclectic vibe of his body of work makes Boyle a filmmaking force to be reckoned with, bar none. One of his early calling cards is hitting glorious Blu-ray via Lionsgate on Sept. 13 in the form of one five-star "Trainspotting: Collector’s Edition" and I don’t mind saying not only does it look picture perfect, it’s chocked so full of extras that it might as well have been a box...

TV Year In Review: The Best, The Worst & The In Between

December 26th, 2008 7:31am EST
Breaking Bad
In a year that saw the writers strike bring forth more reality TV than we ever thought possible and reduce quality drama to a war of attrition, the boob tube still managed to deliver quality drama series at an impressive clip.

BEST TV DRAMAS OF 2008

5. "BREAKING BAD" (AMC) - The aforementioned strike meant we only got seven episodes of former "X-Files" writer Vince Gilligan's masterful meth-strewn series, but after enduring its visceral fury, could we have really taken anymore?

Unlike another suburban drug dealing series, the torpid "Weeds", "Breaking Bad" offers a modern-d...

The Best & Worst Films Of Leonardo DiCaprio

October 13th, 2008 10:05am EDT
Leonardo DiCaprio
With such a talented actor like Leonardo DiCaprio, it's hard to find a dubbed "worst film" in his career. Yet, among all of Leo's great roles, there were a few that don't live up to par.

THE WORST

The Man in the Iron Mask

This was Leonardo’s first movie after his groundbreaking role in Titanic so most people expected a lot out of him. And although the movie made a profit, his performance wasn’t exactly riveting.

The Beach

Leonardo’s second movie after "Titanic" wasn’t well received either. Even the steamy sex scene didn’t push this movie into the best catego...

Director Danny Boyle Hopes To Reconcile With Ewan McGregor

April 3rd, 2007 7:00pm EDT
Ewan McGregor
Director Danny Boyle is still hopeful he can persuade Ewan McGregor to star in an adaptation of Irvine Welsh book Porno, despite the actor not wanting to speak to him.

McGregor, who starred in Boyle's movies Trainspotting and A Life Less Ordinary, was furious when Boyle cast Leonardo DiCaprio and not him in 2000's The Beach, shot in Thailand.

But the filmmaker claims McGregor can't rule out starring in a Porno adaptation without looking at its screenplay first.

Boyle says, "He hasn't seen the script. He may not like the book, but the script is very different. I understand he...

'The Beach' Director Danny Boyle Makes Better Films On Home Soil

March 16th, 2007 11:30pm EDT
The Beach
British director Danny Boyle hates working abroad - because he makes better movies filming in his homeland. The Trainspotting filmmaker, who moved back to England after working on The Beach in Thailand in 2000, is disillusioned with Hollywood and now insists on shooting his films on British soil.

He says, "I think I'm better at making films on my home turf. You learn from

experience, and I learned that through The Beach. I love big movies, but I'm better at small films."

Sylvester Stallone stars in Rambo 4
Thai film officials have asked Sylvester Stallone to reassure villagers and environmentalists that bombing scenes in his Rambo comeback won't harm local nature sites. Stallone will shoot "Rambo IV: In The Serpent's Eye" in the mountainous north of Thailand at the beginning of next year, and locals fear the filming will wreck the environment.

The film officials are thrilled to welcome Stallone to the country and have approved much of the filming, but still have issues with violent scenes they fear could reflect badly on tourism.

They're also determined to make sure that the new R...
