Seth Rogen Deemed Hollywood's Hardest Working Star

April 22nd, 2010 9:04am EDT
Seth Rogen
Funnyman Seth Rogen has been named the hardest working man in Hollywood - 10 of his movies have made more than $20 million at the box office in the last five years.

The Knocked Up actor has topped a new poll by Forbes to find the stars making the most films and the most money for studios since 2005. He beat out competition from veteran actor Morgan Freeman, who came second in the list, shooting nine movies which garnered more than $20 million in revenue.

Freeman's Invictus co-star Matt Damon came third, with eight high-earning movies in the last half-decade, while comic Will Ferrell cam...

Greatest Entertainers of the Decade
This week, we've brought you the Ten Greatest TV Shows, Songs, Albums and Movies of the Decade. Now it's time to roll it all into one with the Ten Greatest Entertainers of the Decade.

This was a decade where entertainment became increasingly fractured. With 500 channels 500 bazillion websites and every medium on-demand, bringing together any significant chunk of people to one thing was a true sign of greatness. In an era when nobody had to agree - making them agree took something beyond the level of entertainer we saw in the past.

With that in mind, here are the Ten Greatest Entert...

Actors Who Have Transitioned From TV To Film

Jennifer Garner
For some actors, it is hard to make the crucial transition into film as a television star. Especially if you are typecast as a certain character and most people can't think of you as anyone else (for example, Matt LeBlanc as Joey on Friends). Television actors put their careers on the line when they leave their steady jobs to branch out into the film world, and they either make it or they don't. Here are the top television stars who managed to hold their own in the film world.

Why is Katie Holmes Still Famous?

August 19th, 2009 11:51am EDT
Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes owes her career to "Dawson's Creek," cut her real acting teeth in "The Ice Storm," embarrassed herself in movies like "Disturbing Behavior," didn't embarrass herself in "Thank You for Smoking, and even tried her hand at Broadway. But she has yet to do anything that warrants the media's massive favoritism and fixation on her (other than being a very convenient excuse for Tom Cruise, ahem).

Is it her looks?

Some may argue that her looks have gotten her to where she is and kept her there. She did pursue modeling prior to her work as an actress. But take a look at Katie durin...

'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' opens this Friday, and could possibly overturn the all three of the other X-Men movies as the best one yet. Not because the other films forgot that Wolverine was really the star anyway, or because there's only so much CGI that a movie can handle before even the performances seem to look animated, but because this will be the first X-Men film to ditch those dorky black latex costumes that made Professor's Xavier's school look like a front for an underground S&M club. In celebration, StarPulse is taking a moment to remember the superhero fads of yesteryear. The ones...

Brandon Routh probably won't get to play Superman again given that the studio plans to totally reboot the franchise, a la Batman Begins/The Dark Knight. It seems he's found another comic book character though in Dylan Dog. He is set to star in the film version of Tiziano Sclavi's Italian comic book series in a film from producers Ahstok Amritraj and Patrick Aiello.

"We have a movie called Dead of Night which starts shooting in April with Brandon Routh," Amritraj said. "Kevin Munroe who did Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [TMNT] is directing it. That shoots in New Orleans."

Bringing comic book heroes (and villains) to the big screen has meant big bucks for movie studios in recent years. With huge budgets and state of the art special effects, it's easier than ever for filmmakers to convincingly create the fantasy worlds that classic comic characters inhabit, both delighting die-hard "geeks," and captivating folks who've never picked up a comic book in their lives.

Comic book films have always been popular, dating back to the movie serials of the 1940s featuring Superman, Batman, and Flash Gordon, just to name a few. Christopher Reeve's "Superman" in 1978...

Ten Years Later: Still Bitter About 'Seinfeld' Finale, Reunion Needed

If a tree falls in the woods and 76.3 million people are there to watch it, will it make a noise? Yes! It will! It will make the most horrendous thud that can possibly be imagined. This is what happened in May of 1998-- yes, over ten years ago-- when the series finale of "Seinfeld" aired.

Jerry Seinfeld, over the years, has dropped coy hints that there is a possibility that the Seinfeld cast may reunite for a one off movie or reunion special. This needs to happen. The final episode of "Seinfeld"-- what many would agree is a landmark series in the history of television-- is, in a word,...

Two Starpulse writers have strong opinions on whether making a fourth film is really what the public needs or wants:

A Fan's Eye View: The 'Dark Knight' Is Probably The Best Comic Book Film Ever

When I arrived at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, to the Lincoln Center IMAX, I was not quite certain what to expect. On the bus to New York City from Boston, plenty of texts were coming in from excited friends about how the lines were out the door and wrapped around the street for hours. What were they there for? The preview night of "The Dark Knight," Christopher Nolan's incredible follow-up to his hit "Batman Begins."

By now the reports have all come in that this film broke several box office records, but on Thursday that was just a whisper of a possibility. Then again, once I ste...

Purple suit, caked-white face, delirious, hand-in-the-cookie-jar grin: the Joker. In 1989's Batman, Jack Nicholson played the role as a coked out 'toon far past loony, at ease in the company of rapists or ravers. In 2008's The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger plays the role like a congenitally hallucinogenic child tight roping over hellfire, dragging behind him the world like limp teddy bear. The newer version is obviously a dark turn for a character with such a light-hearted name, but, so it seems, the entire Batman franchise has taken a dark turn since Batman Begins. In honor of Ledger's, not t...

Some were excited that new blood was injected into the series and that certain characters such as Robin would finally appear on the big screen. By the time "Batman and Robin" was released into theaters in 1997 however, anger and resentment boiled to the surface. Fans were irate that a director would inject so much camp and kitsch into such a beloved franchise.

As time went by, the love for the two Tim Burton Batman films starring Michael Keaton - "Batman" and "Batman Returns" - bega...

The Dark Knight
There were eight years between "Batman & Robin" (1997) and "Batman Begins" (2005), which became a blockbuster hit, and it was no wonder considering the extremely negative backlash "Batman & Robin" received. With cringe-worthy puns from all of the main actors - George Clooney, Uma Thurman, Alicia Silverstone, etc. - and a lack of any plot substance or inner contemplation the previous movies had showed, it seemed like the Batman movies would be given an early grave.

Then Christopher Nolan signed on to the "Batman Begins" project, a film loosely based off of "Batman: Year One" written by...

Ask any comic book fan what their most anticipated movie is this year and I guarantee a vast majority of them will say The Dark Knight, the eagerly awaited sequel to Batman Begins. One of the reasons this film has fans excited is Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker.

The marketing behind this movie has up until now focused mainly on the Joker, with alternate reality games encourag...
